P &R MEETING MINUTES APRIL 6, 1994 PAGE TWO City Council Liaison Dario is requesting on behalf of the City to reserve the ball field July 29, 30 and 31st for the City Celebration. OLD BUSINESS: Ordinance Establishing a Park and Recreation Committee. Committee member Navin requested this item be tabled until May. Playground Equipment. Discussion around Committee member Drilling's recommendation on the City parks. Committee member Drilling has been in touch with Carol Pelton on her recommendations. The Water Tower Park is priority right now. Based upon Committee member Drilling's recommendation for the Water Tower Park, item #1 is within another proposal, item #2 waiting to hear from Centerville Lions about a request for money about signs. Item #3 will be ordered and Committee member Drilling will get three bids. Motion by Drilling, second by Navin to order basketball set and get three bids for basketball court, motion carried unanimously. Royal Meadows. Committee member Drilling would like to invest about $2,000.00 at the Royal Meadows park, an equal amount of the Water Tower Park improvements. Committee member Drilling will check with Chairperson Dixon and Committee member Reisdorfer about equipment to order up to $2,000.00 mark. Motion by Navin, second by Drilling to allow Committee member Drilling to order playground equipment, basketball equipment and get three bids for basketball ball pads for the Water Tower Park and Royal Meadows using a line of credit of $2,000.00 maximum for both parks; anything over $2,000.00, Committee member Drilling will contact the Park and Recreation Committee before May meeting, motion carried unanimously. LAWCON Grant. This item was tabled until the May meeting in order to do necessary construction work. A report will be given at the May meeting. NEW BUSINESS: Chiefs Soccer Club - Request for Fields. Motion by Drilling, second by Larson to allow Centennial Chiefs P &R MEETING MINUTES APRIL 6, 1994 PAGE THREE Soccer Club to use the soccer fields subject to the City using it in July for the City Celebration, motion carried unanimously. City staff is directed to send a letter to the Centennial Chiefs Soccer Club directing them approval to use fields subject to City Celebration. The Park and Recreation Committee requests the Chiefs Soccer Club indicate days and hours of proposed use for field maintenance. Committee member Larson is to look into cost of a satellite on a monthly rental. Maintenance of Park Land Behind City Hall. Table maintenance of park land behind City Hall for mowing grass. Star City Goals & Objectives. The Park and Recreation Committee would like to see a goal or objective that includes Park Improvements such as land purchases, equipment, maintenance, plan, money. Planting for the Future. It was noted the dates were past when Park and Recreation Committee received this item in their packet.
