Home My WebLink About1992-12-02 Minutes Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the Park and Recreation Committee of the City of Centerville held their regular meeting on Wednesday, December 2, 1992 at the City Hall. Acting Chairperson Navin called the meeting to order at 6:40 p.m. Present: Drilling, Larson, Reisdorfer. Absent: Dixon. OLD BUSINESS Proposed Annrn Creek - Revised Sketnh Plan Gerry Rehbein, Developer, and Ken Vanderbeek, Realtor, were present to discuss the proposed Acorn Creek Development. Review of City Council Acorn Creek Development security and park access: - No problems from the Park and Recreation Committee if #40 was made into a 60 foot wide street and one to four parking lot spaces would be put in. - The Park and Recreation Committee members are still concerned that they get the appropriate 3.8 acres of land designated as park, not including water or ditches. - The Park and Recreation Committee would like a "T" paved out in #40 instead of cul -de -sac - Mr. Rehbein would pave the road all the way to the park if it was a "T" versus a cul -de -sac. The "T" turn around measurements would be approximatly 12 x 20 feet. - Committee member Drilling will go to the Planning and Zoning Commission and explain the Park and Recreaction Committee's position. - There is an easement between Lots 4 and 5. Mr. Rehbein noted that any easement is park ground. Motion by Navin, second by Reisdorfer to accept, in principle, the location of park in the north east corner with improvement and with full allotted acres as dry land, not water, ditches, etc., motion carried unanimously. MINUTES Motion by Reisdorfer, second by Larson to approve the November 4, 1992 meeting minutes with the following corrections: Page 2, Paragraph 3 Inclusion of: "Hockey Association will be required to assist in the flooding of the rink." Committee member Reisdorfer will talk to Hockey Association. P &R MEETING MINUTES DECEMBER 2, 1992 PAGE TWO Page 1, Paragraph 4 Inclusion of: "The Park and Recreation did not approve park land as shown in north east corner for the following reasons: 1) Lack of access a) Security. b) Parking. c) Emergency and maintenance vehicles couldn't get in and our easily. 2) Full acreage for land was not going to be allotted as park - it was going be ditches., motion carried unanimously. 1992/1993 Rink Attendants Committee member Reisdorfer will be in charge. Hours are the same as last year. Committee member Reisdorfer would like to be advised about the minimum wage; what's the lowest pay we can give attendants? The Park and Recreation Committee directs the Public Works Department to begin flooding the rink, and do it at least daily. If it isn't begun immediately, Committee member Reisdorfer must be contacted. Committee member Reisdorfer would like all the keys to the park building (Central Park warming house). The Park and Recreation Committee directs the Public Works Department to clean out and clean up the Central Park warming house by December 15, 1992. Lights at Hockey Rink Committee member Larson is charge of the lights at the hockey rink. Committee member Larson has not yet received a response from John Stewart, City Engineer. Committee member Larson tried telephoning Mr. Stewart on December 2, 1992. The Park and Recreation Committee directs Committee member Larson to call Bright Lights on December 3, 1992. The Park and Recreation Committee would like the lights installed as soon as possible. Committee member Navin noted that $90.00 was raised during the November 28 and 29 weekend. It was noted a $100.00 cash advance waa received from the City. It was noted that the food stand looks good. The Park and Recreation Committee noted that volunteers are needed for the next two weekends. Centerville Lions - Request for Donation Chairperson Dixon was not present to update. This will be tabled until the next meeting. Centennial Tittle Teague /Kelly's Knrner - Request for Ball Fields Tabled until next meeting. NEW BUSINESS Food Stand The Park and Recreation Committee reviewed a memo dated November 30, 1992 the Orville Hughes, Public Works Director, regarding the material and labor costs for the food stand. The Park and Recreation Committees was not informed of the costs before or during the project. The Park and Recreation Committee will not pay $918.28 to repair the food stand. Committee member Reisdorfer stated that no reasonable person would have put $918.28 into a chicken coop. Motion by Reisdorfer, second by Navin regarding the cost to repair of the food stand: this is definitely a fiscal irresponsibility on the part of the City; based on the original intent (to have simple, low cost repairs) we feel the City should foot the cost, AYE - Drilling, AYE - Navin, AYE - Reisdorfer, ABSTAIN - Larson, motion carried. ADJOURN Motion by Drilling, second by Reisdorfer to adjourn the meeting, motion carried unanimously.
