Home My WebLink About1992-11-04 Minutes Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the Park and Recreation Committee of the City of Centerville held their regular meeting on Wednesday, November 4, 1992 at the City Hall_ Chairperson Dixon called the meeting to order at 6:43 p.m. Present: Drilling, Larson, Navin, Reisdorfer, City Council Liaison Dario. MINUTES Motion by Reisdorfer, second by Larson to approve the October 7, 1992 meeting minutes, motion carried unanimously. OLD BUSINESS Proposed Arnnn Creak Development - Park T,and Dadiratinn Carol Pelton was present to update the Park and Recreation Committee on the Acorn Creek Development Task Force meeting. Ms_ Pelton presented the Committee with a rough sketch plan of the propose• par an• p us h. y _ = the City will nd up with approximately three (3) acres. All this is proposed for the east side of the proposed Acorn Creek Development. The Park and Recreation Committee requests to be notified of future Acorn Creek Development Task Force meeting so the Committee full insight of development of this area Committee member Drilling is the designated contact person. Tom Dario updated the Park and Recreation that the owner of land adjacent to Central Park is available for sale, the owner had been contracted_ The price is unspecified. 1992/1993 Rink Attendants The following persons were present and expressed interest in the rink attendant positions: Name Aga Phone # - Troy Fruth 16 years old 426 -1123 - Doug Peterson 16 years old 429 -7370 - Shawn Dornseif 17 years old 426 -1503 - Natahan Arvidson 17 years old 426 -5523 Committee member Reisdorfer explained the job responsibilities to these applicants. Committee member Reisdorfer stressed that rink attendants will be terminated if necessary. The Park and Recreation Committee told the applicants the Committee will be in touch in the them. Chairperson Dixon questioned why it was necessary for hockey parents to flood the rink. Committee member Reisdorfer responded that it would be in the best interest of Centerville to have consistency. P&R M000446 04##& $QM November 4, 1992 page two The Park and Recreation Committee requests City Staff to send the North Metro Recreation Commission a schedule or plan for the use of the rinks. The Park and Recreation Committee will be responsible for control of the rinks, therefore should North Metro Recreation Commission plan any activities they must inform the Park and Recreation Committee. Committee member Reisdorfer will present a plan concerning rink attendants and present it to the Committee at the December meeting. Motion by Reisdorfer, second by Drilling request City Staff to execute a letter to the Centennial Youth Hockey Association that the Association can have the rink Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 5:30 p.m. - 9:0 p.m. There will be no unscheduled practices, scrimmages or games during other hours (including Saturday) subject to Park and Recreation Committee approval, motion carried unanimously. J,i ehts at Hockey Rix* The Park and Recreation Committee received bids from: A. Bright Light $5,945.00 B. Rivard Electric $5,504.00 The Park and Recreation Committee requests City Staff to check out Northern States Power rebate possibilities for the installation of the hockey lights. The contact N.S.P. Representative is Mike Mayerchak at 779 -3128. Motion by Navin, second by Reisdorfer to accept the Bright Light bid subject to City Engineer and City Administrator review and approval of submitted bid to light plan, motion carried unanimously. If approved by the City Engineer and City Administrator, Committee member Larson is to immediately contact Bright Lite to begin work. Soccer Fields It appears to the issue of the damage to the soccer fields has been resolved. Hot Dog Shack /Centerville Tree Farm Fund Raiser Committee member Larson reported that the shack is looking good and is ready. P &R Meeting Minutes November 4, 1992 page three The Committee would like to sell refreshments at the Centerville Tree Farm on the following weekends: - November 28th and 29th; - December 5th and 6th; - December 12th and 13th. Chairperson Dixon will check out replacing the hot chocolate heater. Items to be sold: hot dogs, hot chocolate, candy bars and pop_ The Committee requests that City Staff contact all volunteers form the Water Tower Park activity. Committee member Navin will contact others as well. NEW BUSINESS Clearwater Creek Pathway Committee member Reisdorfer volunteered to be the Park and Recreation Committee Representative. Business/Citizen of the Veer Nominations The item was discussed. No nomination were made. Centennial Little Teague - Request for Rallfields The Park and Recreation Committee requests City Staff to send a letter to Kelly's Korner bar owner and North Metro Recreation Commission concerning the Park and Recreation decision to assign use of ballfields at their December meeting. Centerville T,inne - Request for Donation The Park and Recreation Committee will request a donation from the Centerville Lions for the following improvements to the Water Tower Park: - asphalt sidewalk - two picnic tables - four spot parking lot - park signs Chairperson Dixon will attend the Centerville Lions business meeting on November 25, 1992. ADJOURN Motion by Navin, second by Larson to adjourn, motion carried unanimously.
