Home My WebLink About1992-08-05 Minutes Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the Park and Recreation Committee of the City of Centerville held their regular meeting on Wednesday, August 5, 1992 at the Central Park Building. Acting Chair Navin called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. Present: Larson, Reisdorfer, Liaison Pelton. Absent: Dixon, Drilling. MINUTES Motion by Larson, second by Navin to approve the June 3, 1992 meeting minutes, motion carried unanimously. The July 1, 1992 meeting minutes were tabled until an appropriate quorum is available for approval. APPEARANCES Cterald Rehbein - Proposed Acorn Creek Development Gerald Rehbein, Developer of the proposed Acorn Creek Development, attended the meeting to discuss the park land dedication issue for the proposed Acorn Creek Development. Mr. Rehbein noted that a decision on park land by the Park and Recreation Committee would be needed no later than September 15, 1992. The options available to the Park and Recreation Committee are approximately 3.7 acres of land or $40,150.00 (73 lots x $550.00). Mr. Rehbein suggested to the Park and Recreation Committee that they consider the land located in the flood plain owned by Herman Strelow. Mr. Rehbein will ask Mr. Strelow if he is interested in selling the land. Committee member Reisdorfer will discuss this with the Clerk /Administrator as well as other properties within the City of Centerville. Motion by Reisdorfer, second by Larson to have Committee member Navin contact Mr. Joe Moore to see if he is interested in selling 10 acres to the City of Centerville for park land, motion carried unanimously. Committee member Navin will contact Mr. Moore immediately and if necessary a special Park and Recreation Committee meeting will be called. Lights at Hockey Rink Motion by Navin, second by Reisdorfer to have Chairperson Dixon totally handle the issue of the lights at Central Park, motion @@FF4 @d Uf@f4N®U ®1y, P &R Meeting Minutes August 5, 1992 page two Miscellaneous The Park and Recreation Committee would like to thank the Public Works Department for the placement of the benches at the Water Tower Park. Trash Cans at the Water Tower Park Motion by Reisdorfer, second by Navin to have the Mayor look into plastic drums for trash cans at the Water Tower Park; if he could get additional ones for the other parks, it would be appreciated, motion carried unanimously. r Animal �nnt of It has been viewed that people are letting their pets go to the bathroom in the parks and are not cleaning up after them. Motion by Reisdorfer, second by Navin to direct the Clerk /Administrator to please note in the next City Newsletter the fact that the City of Centerville does have an ordinance relating to leashing and related "dumping" regulations in other residence lawns and city parks; could this information also be placed on the cable channel, motion carried unanimously. Motion by Navin, second by Reisdorfer to direct Committee member Larson to investigate the cost of signs related to pets on leashes and their "dumping" problem in the City parks, motion carried unanimously. Soccer Fields Motion by Navin, second by Reisdorfer to have the Clerk /Administrator direct the Public Works Department to review the mess created at the soccer filed by the ditch cleaning; then level and re -seed the area to bring it to its original condition; all costs associated with this should not be charged to the Park and Recreation Committee, motion carried unanimously. Hot Doe Shack Motion by Navin, second by Larson to have the Clerk /Administrator direct the Public Works Department to put the axle /wheels and tongue on the shack by September 15, 1992 and pressure wash it; then advise the Park and Recreation Committee when done so we can meet and detail additional work needed on it, motion carried unanimously. ADJOURN Motion by Reisdorfer, second by Larson to adjourn the meeting, motion carried unanimously.
