Pursuant to due call and notice thereof the Park and Recreation Committee of the City of Centerville held their regular meeting on Wednesday, July 1, 1992 at the City Hall. Chairperson Dixon called the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m. Present: Reisdorfer, Navin, Drilling. Absent: Larson. MINUTES Motion by Dixon, second by Reisdorfer to table approval of minutes until the next meeting, motion carried unanimously. OLD BUSINESS Lights at Hockey Rink The Park and Recreation Committee would like to obtain bids for completely new lights at hockey rink. Chairperson Dixon or Public Works Director Orville Hughes can be contacted if more information is required. Its imperative that construction start in September. The bids will be needed by the August meeting. Band_ and Timber for the Water Tower Park The timbers are complete, the sand is done. The Park and Recreation Committee needs two garbage cans up at the Water Tower Park immediately. Maintenance salaries $3,500.00 Utilities $2,200.00 Supplies (maintenance) $1,000.00 Rink Attendant Salaries $4,500.00 Supplies (general) $1,700.00 Stipends $ 600.00 Park Proposals $20,000.00 Grand total $33,500.00 The Park and Recreation Committee is requesting again, to have the maintenance salaries, supplies for maintenance and maintenance utilities be removed from the Park and Recreation Budget. Money for trails The above "Wish Lists" are to be included in the August through December Park and Recreation Packets. Motion by Reisdorfer, second by Navin to table further discussions of the 5 Year Plan until the next meeting, motion carried unanimously. Softball Fields - Central Park Motion by Reisdorfer, second by Dixon that in 1993 the Park and Recreation Committee will require a $200.00 deposit per group requesting ball field use of bathroom keys will be required by a specified date to be determined by the Park and Recreation Committee after request is received. The $200.00 deposit will be returned when the key(s) are returned, motion carried unanimously. BePlaolmeJIL.Q.L.Coifetalaskei Chairperson Dixon will replace the coffee maker. Fence Around the Water Tower - Concern about Children Climbing the Water Tower Motion by Dixon, second by Navin last year the Park and Recreation Committee presented this problem to the City Council, and the Park and Recreation Committee feels it is the City's responsibility and request the City Council to remedy the situation, motion carried unanimously. NEW BUSINESS Bequest to have Trees Transplanted to Cushion Noise - Water Tower The Park and Recreation Committee noted it has been taken under consideration, when the Park and Recreation Committee is able to put trees in the park; budget considerations. Request for Trees David and Pat Downing, 1876 Prairie Drive, attended the meeting to discuss the their request for trees to be transplanted. They would like trees to be put in the Water Tower Park by their house and by the pink house in the south west corner. The Downing's would contribute $100.00 to place 3 trees by their back yard, on the park side. Night Golf It was noted that the Park and Recreation is not going to do a Night Golf Fund Raiser this year. P &R Meeting Minutes July 1, 1992 page four The Park and Recreation Committee requests City Staff to advise when the trees can be removed from the municipal site. The Downing's noted it would be okay if the trees could not be transplant until Labor Day. Soccer ield - Di ..h .leaning Sludge from the ditch cleaning was put on the soccer field. The field should be fixed up, re- seeded, etc. The Park and Recreation Committee would like to be advised as to when this is going to happen. Trail Around Fox Run It was noted that people are driving cars on the trail and appear to be using it as an alley. The Park and Recreation Committee would like a "NO MOTORIZED VEHICLES" sign up as soon as possible. Tree Farm Hot Dog Shark Committee member Navin requests an update on the building used to sell hot dogs at the Tree Farm. ADJOURN Motion by Drilling, second by Navin to adjourn the meeting, motion carried unanimously.
