Committee of the City of Centerville held their regular meeting
on Wednesday, May 6, 1992 at the City Hall. Chairperson Dixon
called the meeting to order at 6 :40 p.m. Present: Drilling,
Larson, Navin, Reisdorfer.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
Motion by Reisdorfer, second by Drilling to approve the April 1,
1992 meeting minutes with the following amendment:
page two, paragraph 8
Now Reads: '...Howard lake was the cheapest."
Amend to Read: "...Howard Lake and Hugo Interstate Lumber
are the cheapest price."
motion carried unanimously.
APPEARANCES
Richard DeFoe - Waterworks Par
Richard DeFoe, owner of the Waterworks Bar, was present to
request that the Park and Recreation Committee consider waiving
the $200 Tournament Fee for a tournament held on April 25, 1992
at Central Park. Mr. DeFoe noted that an employee of the
Waterworks Bar had attempted to pay the $200 fee before holding
the tournament, but that City Hall was closed on the Friday
before the tournament. Chairperson Dixon had given permission to
Mr. DeFoe to use the ball fields at Central Park for the
tournament.. Mr. DeFoe noted that he did not believe that the
Waterworks Bar will be using the Central Park fields this year.
OLD BUSINESS
Removal and Transplanting of Trees from the Proposed Municipal
Site to City Park Land.
Committee member Navin noted that he had received a bid for
removal and transplanting of ten (10) trees at $35.00 per tree.
Motion by Navin, second by Reisdorfer to accept the bid from
Trees for Travel for the removal of ten (10) trees from the
proposed municipal site at $35.00 per tree and transplanting the
ten (10) trees at the Water Tower Park, motion carried
unanimously.
Lights at Hockey Rink
Discussion of the hockey rink lights was tabled.
Playground Rquipment Tnstallation at Water Tower Park
The following is the approximate expenses incurred for
installation of the playground equipment:
- Power auger 2 days at $40.00 per day $ 80.00
- Tripple's Market $100.00
- Concrete $214.40
- Gopher One Call $ 25.00

- 8 cases of pop $ 48.00
- "Seep Off" signs $ 15.00
- Anderson Supervisor (extra time) $100.00
TOTAL $557.40
The Park and Recreation Committee would like to direct City Staff
to write thank you letters to the volunteers. Committee member
Drilling will supply City Staff with a list of names.
Band and Timbers for Water Tower Park
Committee Navin noted that the timbers are drilled and already
cut. Friday, May 8, 1992 is that date for the laying out of the
timbers at the Water Tower Park.
The Committee has not yet received quotes for the sand.
Committee members Drilling and Navin will check into the sand,
with a possible delivery next week. The cost for the sand is
approximately $2,300.00. /
Tax Tncrement Financing
Chairperson Dixon will research the possibility of requesting Tax
Increment Financing for the installation of the outdoor lights at
Central Park.
Budget Line Items.
Motion by Reisdorfer, second by Dixon to appoint Committee member
Reisdorfer to discuss the procedure with the Clerk /Administrator
as to removing the exact dollar amount of the maintenance
expenditures from the 1992 budget, motion carried unanimously.
NEW BUSINESS
Replacement of Swing Seat at the Royal Meadows Park
Orville Hughes, Public Works Director, noted in a memo dated May
6, 1992 that the swing seat at the Royal Meadows Park was in need
of replacement. Mr. Hughes also requests that an extra seat be
ordered.
Motion by Reisdorfer, second by Dixon to authorize Orville
Hughes, Public Works Director, to order replacement swing seats,
motion carried unanimously.
Ditch Cleaning Liaison
Committee member Reisdorfer will be the Park and Recreation
Committee's Representative for the ditch cleaning project for the
ditch that abuts Central Park.
Waterworks Rar - Request to Waive $200 Tournament Fee

preparation of the fields provided by the Waterworks Bar;
and their support for the City Celebration by allowing
for the use of their fields during the City Celebration
Softball Tournament,
motion carried unanimously.
ADJOURN
Motion by Dixon, second by Navin to adjourn the meeting, motion
carried unanimously. Meeting adjourned 8:20 p.m.
