Committee of the City of Centerville held their regular meeting
on Tuesday, August 13, 1991 at the City Hall. Acting Chairperson
LeTendre called the meeting to order at 7:05 p.m. Present:
Drilling, Reisdorfer, City Council Liaison Tom Dario. Absent:
Downing, Dixon.
APPEARANCES
Nite Golf - Steve Appel and Don Simonson
The dates for the Nite Golf Fund Raiser at Chominix Golf Course
are as follows:
- Friday, September 6, 1991 and
Friday, October 4, 1991
The following was discussed:
- Merchant Solicitation
Circle Pines - Jerry LeTendre
Hugo - Linda Drilling
Centerville - Neil Reisdorfer
Lexington - Steve Dixon
Flyers
Committee member Drilling will make and distribute to
members.
Order Equipment - ball and tee sticks, caps, pole
markers
Committee member LeTendre will order.
- Order News articles - Quad Press and Circulating Pines

- Recruit Volunteers for nights
Steve Appel and Don Simonson will recruit volunteers.

Dave Lutz - President Centerville Lions
Dave Lutz, President Centerville Lions, was present to update on
the outcome of the "Fete des Lacs" Festival held on August 2, 3
and 4, 1991 at Central Park.
Mr. Lutz presented a list showing expenses and profits, but
incorrectly figured out how much the Lions owe the Park and
Recreation Committee. One check was accepted for $537.60. Mr.

Lutz still needs to send another check for $597.42. Mr. Lutz
forget about the cash advance from the Park and Recreation
Committee.
Dave Lutz made the following comments about the Festival:
- Too many food vendors
- Pig Roast - limit to one day
- Keep softball players around
- Extra food was donated to food shelves
Soil was too wet
- Event was greatly appreciated and people put in a lot
of hard work
- Park and Recreation should have a chaiker available
during summer months
- Profits were split 50 -50 between Centerville Lions and
Park and Recreation Committee
Liaison Dario made the following comments about the Festival:
- Clean
- Get more children's rides
Committee member LeTendre made the following comments about the
Festival:
- Close to dollar goal
Committee member Drilling made the following comment about the
Festival:
Put tents over all food sales.
Orville Hughes, Public Works Director, made the following
comments about the Festival:
In the southwest far corner of Central Park, level that
section for carnival trailers;
Check on the electrical problems.
Public Works
Orville Hughes, Public Works Director, was present. Mr. Hughes
advised that Dale Larson, Public Works Employee, had locked the
warming house door on Sunday, August 4, 1991 after the Festival.
But, on Monday it was open and the fire extinguishers had been
released. No other vandalism was seen.
New combination for lock: PAM; There were two keys missing.
The Park and Recreation Committee would like the Public Works
Department to re -seed the Water Tower Park this fall.
Mr. Hughes should also finish the trail to Royal Meadows Park
(timbers, vinyl and chips) immediately. This was to be done this

spring! City Council Liaison Dario noted that he had taken
complaints from the neighbors to the park.

1992 Budget
It was noted that the 1992 budget dollar amount is due by August
15,1991. The final detailed budget date is December 1, 1991.
The City cannot increase dollar amount, only decrease.

Motion by LeTendre, second by Reisdorfer to recommend to the City
Council that the Park and Recreation 1992 Budget be set at
$55,916, motion carried unanimously.
North Metro Recreation Commission
The Park and Recreation Committee would like for City Staff to
contact Pat Turgeon and Mike Navin for interviews on August 21,
1991 at 7 :15 and 7:30 p.m.
The Park and Recreation Committee will not make a recommendation
until the interviews are complete.
Park Equipment
Tabled.
NEW BUSINESS
Horse shoes at Central Park
City Council Liaison Dario suggested that the Park and Recreation
Committee consider putting horse shoe pits at Central Park.
Schedule Conflict
It was noted that Committee member Drilling will have a
scheduling conflict from September through December. The Park
and Recreation Committee will discuss this at the next meeting.

Motion by Drilling, second Reisdorfer to adjourn the meeting,
motion carried unanimously. Meeting adjourned 10 :25 p.m.
