HomeMy WebLinkAbout2009-10-06 P & Z - Approved CITY OF CENTERVILLE PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION October 6, 2009 Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, the Planning and Zoning Commission held its regularly scheduled meeting on October 6, 2009, at 6:30 p.m. PRESENT: Chair D. Love Commissioner Darrin Mosher Commissioner Mark Pangell Commissioner Jim Wekseth Commissioner Roland Parucci ABSENT: Commissioner Jesse Lange Commissioner Thomas Wood STAFF: Administrator Dallas Larson OTHERS PRESENT: Council Member Ben Fehrenbacher was absent I. CALL TO ORDER Chairman D. Love called the meeting to order at 6:30 p.m. 1. Roll Call II. APPEARANCES/PRESENTATIONS None III. PUBLIC HEARING None IV.OLD BUSINESS It was reported that staff, as requested, had contacted Brooklyn Park and Delano regarding why they adopted their strict metal roof regulations. Brooklyn Park indicated that theirs were adopted before the issue was covered by the building code, but the person that had specific knowledge no longer worked there. Delano indicated that they had copied another community’s regulations without a lot of research. Page 1 of 2 City of Centerville Planning and Zoning Commission September 1, 2009 V. NEW BUSINESS The Commission reviewed the draft 2030 Transportation Plan for Anoka County. It was noted that the only improvements planned to County Roads in and near Centerville are the th interchange on 35E at CSAH 14, and a future northerly bypass and interchange at 80 Street. Motion by Commissioner Parrucci, seconded by Commissioner Mosher that the Commission notify that the City has reviewed the County Plan and have no objections. All in favor. Motion carried VI. DISCUSSION ITEMS The Commission reviewed the Hoyt vs. City of Minneapolis case and its implications on how it should affect the Commission. It was noted that in the future, P&Z members will need to disclose any input they have received by email or otherwise so that the entire Commission can consider all input at the public hearing. It was also noted that the Commission needs to be careful not to give a position on matters before all of the testimony is in. The City will investigate the cost of adding email addresses for P&Z. VII. CONSIDERATION OF MINUTES 1.September 1, 2009, Meeting Minutes Motion by Commissioner Pangell, seconded by Commissioner Parrucci , to approve the September 1, 2009, minutes as presented. All in favor. Motion carried 5-0. VIII. PLANNING AND ZONING COMMISSION MEETING ADJOURNMENT Motion by Commissioner Mosher, seconded by Commissioner Wikseth to adjourn the Meeting at 7:28 p.m. All in favor. Motion carried unanimously.
