Chairperson Michael Navin catled the meeting to order at 6:35 p.m.. Present: Chairperson Michael Navin Dale Larson Steve Brown Doug Porter Terry Sweeney Absent: None Staff: Jim March � Jill Lien I ROLL CALL � The following members of the Centerville Neighborhood Network (CNN) were in attendance: ' Paul Ledine (1852 Revoir St.), Aimee and Tom Fairbrother (1844 Revoir St.), Lisa Abrahamson � (1868 Revoir St.), Lori Dorn (1836 Revoir St.) and Carla DeVine (1837 Revoir St.). LTpdate an LaMotte Trail Issue Mr. March explained the County organized all of the meetings regarding LaMotte Trail. The next Mr. March felt there wouldn't be a need for another public hearing. meeting is scheduled for July 8 at 6:30 p.m.. Some of the residents do not want the trail by thzir homes. Mr. Porter will try to attend the meeting. 1�Zr. Su��eeney offered the council wants to see a firm layout of the play structure and adult area. They also will want to see the costs finalized. Update on DNR Grarts (Nei�hborhood Network Committee� Mr. March explained the City received notification from the DNR that the City o�as awarded a Ms. Dorn (1836 Revoir St.) mentioned that the CNN has added a couple of bench swings for the grant of $45,000. There were 138 cities that applied for the grant, of which 30 were funded. The adults to use. City now needs to select a vendor and get valunteers to install the equipment. Mr. March also stated that when the contractor sweeps the streets after the sealcoating is complete, the left over Mr. Navin felt that the Park and Recreation Committee needs to be good stewards of the money, gravel will be used as a base for the playground� equipment at the park. Mr. March mentioned that the LaMotte Park Grant application was not anyone is ready to recommend anything to the council, funded, but the Trail Linkage Grant will probably go through. There is a meeting on July 8, at 6:30 p.m. with some of the residents, the DNR, Centerville City Council, and Lino Lakes to No one was ready for recommendation to council. Mr. March felt vendors will be very interested once they ! know we have already been awarded the grant. The assessment is approximately a 30 day process, and the Mr. Navin suggested that since we basically have a 30 day window to work with that maybe City cannot expend any money until the City gets the approval. someone from the Park and Recreation Committee would be interested in working with a representative of the C�NN to get quotes and set up the layout of the equipment at the park. Mr. iVlr. The CNN does not want a shelter. Mr. Larson questioned why the CNN is so against a shelter. Ms. Dorn explained that if the play structure is in the middle of the park, then all of the parents can see their children playing at the park. Also, the CNN was under the impression that the adults wanted to be away from the play structure. Mr. Navin felt it wouldn't hurt to give the public one more chance to voice their opinions. If no one voices an opinion, then the City will continue working with the CNN ideas. Mr. Porter questioned if the trees were relocated from Eagle Pass to Acorn Creek Park. Mr. March explained that 20 trees have been relacated to the Acorn Creek Park Ms. Dorn mentioned some of the trees look like they are dying. �� U�date on Royal Meadows Park lmprovements Public Works has removed the slide at the Royal Meadows Park. They haven't had time to repair ' the swing set yet, but hopefully when the street sealcoating is complete, they can get back to Royal Meadows to repair the swing. Mr. Port�r mentioned the basketball hoop pole is really ', looking shabby. He asked if anyone would object to him going over to the park and painting the pole for the basketball hoop. Everyone felt it was a great idea, and commended Mr. Porter for his � contribution to the park and city. L, �pdate on Si�ns at Roxal Meadows, Acorn Creek and Eagle Parks Mr. March explained that the materials have been ordered. Mr. Houle has spent a lot of time just � <�etting the right materials. He is making each sign a little different frorn the other, and it involves a lot of Mr. Houle's time. Mr. March would like to see some type of public recognition for Mr. Houle. Mr. March also brought up Mr. Blom for recognition. Mr. Blom drilled some 60 holes for the hockey rink boards. It was determined that a plaque would be a very nice symbol of recognition. Mr. Navin also suggested a City shirt. Mr. March felt the Fete des Lacs (City Celebration) would be a perfect opportunity to recognize Mr. Houle and Mr. Blom for their ei�orts. It was determined that Friday night at bingo would be the best time to award both a plaque and a City shirt.
