MINUTES OF MEETING OF CITY COUNCIL <br />OF CITY OF GEM LAKE <br />June, 1996 <br />The June meeting of the City Council of the City of Gem Lake was called to order on Monday, 17 <br />June 1996, at 7:05 p.m, in the first floor meeting room of Tousley Ford. Mayor Emeott, Council Members <br />Igo, Kunin, Nielsen and Birkebak, Treasurer Nordstrom, and Assistant Clerk Ward were present; <br />Fallowing. Mayor Emeott's request for additions, deletions, or corrections of minutes distributed to <br />the Council'and questions thereto, the minutes of the 20 May 1996 City Council Meeting were,. upon motion <br />duly made (Birkebak) and seconded (Kuniri), unanimously approved as presented. <br />Following Mayor Emeott's request for additions, deletions, or corrections to the Agenda as distrib- <br />uted to the Council, the. Agenda for 17 June. 1996 was; upon motion duly made (Kunin) and seconded <br />(Birkebak} unanimously approved as presented. <br />Mr. Igo then noted for the Council's benefit that there continues to be significant noise in the. <br />northwest corner of the city as the result of Custom Thermoform's operations running 24 hours a day. Mr. <br />Magnuson was asked to pursue the matter. <br />Mayor Emeott then reported on the Planning Commission efforts to meet with HolTi ian Corner <br />business owners to discuss future plans, needs and concerns. Mayor Emeott also noted that Mr. Gardner will <br />be meeting with the Metropolitan Council in the near future regarding the. Comprehensive PIan. <br />A copy of Mr. Magnuson's letter to Boyer regarding Open Storage and other matters on Scheuneman <br />Road was then presented for Council review with no action taken. <br />Mayor Emeott then reported on discussions regarding City Water supplied to the Hoffman Corner <br />business area of the City. City water has become a necessity for this area, Estimates to complete the desired <br />Ioop with Vadnais Heights are $225,000 to $300,000. Additional discussions include extension of the water <br />main north on Scheuneman Road from County Road E to Highway 61. Approximate costs of $80 per front <br />foot would need to be assessed to the property owners for the project. <br />The Treasurer's Report, a copy of which is attached hereto as Exhibit "A", and indicating a balance <br />in the General Fund of $44,869.75 and in the Sewer Fund of $36,439.20 was, upon motion duly made <br />(Birkebak) and seconded (Nielsen), unanimously approved, Mr. Nordstrom also noted that Mr. Lindholm. <br />is once again in serious arrears on his sewer bill. <br />Payment of bills totaling $10,514.17 and attached hereto as Exhibit "S" was, upon motion duly made <br />(Nielsen) and seconded (Birkebak), unanimously approved. <br />Upon motion duly made (Igo) and seconded (Nielsen), the next meeting of the City Council will be <br />on Thursday, 18 July 1996 following a public hearing on Special Assessments to be held at 7:00 pm the same <br />day. <br />1 <br />
