CITY OF GEM LAKE <br />RESOLUTION NO. 96-14 <br />25 Noâ–ºvember 199E <br />WHEREAS, the City has employed considerable resources in the development of it's Comprehensive <br />Municipal Plan specifically to respond to the Community Survey and the overwhelming desire of 97%fl of the <br />community to maintain lower density in it's residential areas; and <br />W H EREAS, there are several large parcels of undeveloped land in the City which are privately owned, <br />including lands owned by Judson and Barbara Bemis, which may be subject to fixture residential development; <br />and <br />WHEREAS, the owners of Gem Lake Hills, Inc, have willingly consented to a request from the Planning <br />Commission that all their lands in the City of Gem Lake, including certain lands currently zoned R-2 <br />Residential (1.0 acre minimum), R-3 Residential (36,000 square feet minimum), and R-4 Residential (24,000 <br />square feet minimum) be rezoned to R-1 Residential ( 3.0 acre minimum), and <br />WHEREAS, the Planning Commission held a public hearing on 14 October 1996 to receive public comment <br />on the aforementioned rezoning and no opposition was received; and. <br />WHEREAS,. The City Council held a public hearing on 25 November 1996 to receive public comment on <br />the aforementioned rezoning and no opposition was, received; and <br />NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the City Council of the City of Gem Lake does hereby <br />amend the zoning of all lands owned by Gem Lake Hills, Inc. And it's shareholders in the City of Gern Lake <br />to R-3 Residential zoning; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that the City Engineer shall be charged with redrawing the zoning <br />boundaries to reflect said change within one (1) week of the date first written and shall also incorporate said <br />zoning changes in the City's Comprehensive Municipal Plan currently in draft stage; and <br />BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, that in the event the small parcel lying north of Goose Lake Road and east <br />of the current golf course area meets all otherrequirements of the Zoning Ordinance, a variance may be <br />granted to said parcel to allow for it's subdivision and classification as R-2 Residential zoning consistent with <br />adjacent properties. <br />
