1) The height of a freestandingsign shall be measured from the base <br />of the sign or supportive structure at its point of attachment to the <br />ground, to the highest point of the sign. A freestanding signon a <br />man-made base, including a graded earth mound, shall be <br />measured from the grade of the nearest pavement or top of any <br />pavement curb. <br />2) Clearances for freestanding and projecting signs shall be measured <br />as the smallest vertical distance between finished grade and the <br />lowest point of the • sign, including any framework or other <br />embellishments. <br />c) Frontages and Frontage Lengths. <br />I) The. length of any primary or secondary building frontage shall be. <br />the sum of all wall lengths parallel, or nearly parallel, to such <br />frontage, excluding any such wall length determined by the Zoning <br />Administrator to be clearly unrelated to the frontage presence of <br />the building. <br />2) For buildings with two or more frontages, the length of the wall <br />and allowable sign area shall be calculated separately for each such <br />building frontage. <br />3) The building frontage for a section of any building (e.g. retail <br />tenant spaces) shall be measured from the centerline of the party <br />walls defining the building section. <br />5.2 Development Standards. <br />a) Wall Signs. Wall signs are permitted on buildings located in the <br />Neighborhood General, Neighborhood Mixed -Use, and Neighborhood. <br />Center subzones of the Gateway District: Walt signs, other than those <br />exempted from regulations as stated above, are not permitted in <br />Residential zoning districts and the Neighborhood Edge subzon.. of the. <br />Gateway District. <br />1) The basic allowance for. wall signs. shall be.limited to 2 square feet <br />of sign area for each lineal foot. of building or tenant frontage. <br />.2) Each owner. or .tenant may have multiple wall signs as..long as the <br />total wall. sign area does. not exceed the allowances established for <br />wall. signs. If multiple. signs are used on a building .facade, the <br />display method {i.e. individual letters; box and panel, etc-) .shall be <br />the same. for the entire facade. <br />Ordinance 109 draft 9/16/09 7 <br />
