CITY OF GEM LAKE, RAMSEY COUNTY, MINNESOTA <br />ORDINANCE NO. 113 (Summary) <br />SUMMARY PUBLICATION. Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, § 412.191, a summary of an <br />ordinance may be published. While a copy of the entire ordinance is available without cost at the <br />office of the City Clerk, the following summary is approved by the City Council and shall be <br />published in lieu of publishing the entire ordinance: <br />Ordinance 113 regulates excavations and obstructions of the public right-of-way by requiring <br />utility companies; contractors, and others performing such work to obtain a City permit. The <br />Ordinance establishes permit standards, an application process, and fees. The Ordinance adopts <br />the Public Rights -of -Way Standards promulgated by the .Public Utilities Commission as the <br />standards applicable to installation of utilities in Gem Lake. The Ordinance sets standards for <br />completion of work and inspection. Ordinance 113 also requires that any new utility facilities, or <br />replaced or relocated facilities, be installed underground. The. Ordinance provides a process by <br />which the City may order the undergrounding of existing utility facilities following adoption of a <br />plan by the. City. Utility owners who have abandoned utility facilities are required to remove <br />their facilities from the public right-of-way, A complete copy of Ordinance 113 is available at <br />the front desk of Heritage.
