Fire Protection General Fund ACTIVITY DESCRIPTION: The objective of the Fire Protection Department is to provide fire protection and prevention services. The City of Gem Lake entered an agreement with the City of White Bear Lake for such services. The contract also provides for site inspections and enforcement of fire codes through their Fire Marshal. Paramedic and ambulance service is provided by the contract, but the cost of the service is not included in the contract since it is billed as a fee -for -service to the individuals using the service. GOALS: 1. Promote public education and information about fire prevention and safety. 2. Reduce property damage and loss due to fire. 3. Provide emergency medical assistance to all residents. BUDGET COMMENTARY: The City's contract amount is based on the White Bear Lake Fire Department 2022 budget less an adjustment for 2020 actual expenditures compared to budget and multiplied by the City's percentage of average population and average market valuation of the area served by the White Bear Lake Fire Department.
