CITY OF GEM LAKE, MINNESOTA <br />SCHEDULE OF FINDINGS AND RESPONSES (CONTINUED) <br />YEAR ENDED DECEMBER 31, 2017 <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />(40) <br /> <br />OTHER ITEM FOR CONSIDERATION – MINNESOTA LEGAL COMPLIANCE (CONTINUED) <br /> <br />2017-006: Out of State Travel Policy <br />Criteria: Minnesota Statute §471.661, requires the governing body of each statutory or home rule <br />charter city, county, school district, regional agency, or other political subdivision, except a town, must <br />have on record a policy that controls travel outside the state of Minnesota for the applicable elected <br />officials of the relevant unit of government. <br /> <br />Condition: The City does not have a travel policy. <br /> <br />Effect: The City is not in compliance with the Minnesota Statute requiring a travel policy. <br /> <br />Cause: The City has not developed a travel policy. <br /> <br />Recommendation: We recommend the City develop a travel policy. <br /> <br />Management Response: <br />City management is aware of this requirement and will work toward developing a travel policy. <br />
