City of Gem Lake City Council meeting minutes May 19, 2020 Page 2 <br /> <br />taken, all voted yes, scholarship approved for Griffin Varley. A letter will be sent to all three candidates <br />congratulating them and explaining the distribution of funds in September. <br /> <br />Claims <br />A motion was made by Councilmember Lindner, seconded by Councilmember Cacioppo to approve the <br />claims for April, 2020. Voice vote taken, all voted yes. Motion passes, claims approved. <br /> <br />Presentations from the Public <br />City Engineer Justin Gese brought up the final layer of asphalt for the Gem Lake Villas. Originally the <br />developer’s agreement stated that the road would be finalized after the completion of the last home <br />and turned over to the City of Gem Lake. Considering the state of the economy, that could be a number <br />of years down the road. Mr. Gese will contact the developer and have them make a formal request at <br />the next council meeting to amend the contract with the developer to allow the final layer of asphalt be <br />laid. <br /> <br />Open Items from the Council Members to Bring Up <br />Acting Mayor Artig-Swomley, memorial for Mayor Uzpen, perhaps a bench or a tree, Attorney Kelly will <br />check the statute on memorials, signs for the wildflowers in Gem Lake Villas, explaining what they are, <br />continue with virtual meetings, best to act on the side of caution. <br /> <br />Next Meetings/Workshop <br />City Council, Tuesday, June 16, will be a teleconference meeting (options for remote access for citizens <br />and councilmembers will be arranged before the next meeting), workshop, Monday, June 8, 2020, <br />cancelled. <br /> <br />Adjournment <br />Being there no further business, following a motion from Councilmember Lindner, seconded by <br />Councilmember Cacioppo, the meeting adjourned at 7:37 p.m. <br /> <br />Respectfully submitted, Gloria Tessier. <br />
