<br />City of Gem Lake City Council Meeting minutes, September 19, 2017 Page 1 <br /> <br />City of Gem Lake <br /> City Council Meeting – September 19, 2017 <br />Meeting Minutes <br /> <br />Mayor Uzpen called the meeting to order at 7:02 p.m. Councilmembers Artig-Swomley, Kuny and <br />Lindner were present. Others in attendance: Ben Johnson, Planning Commission Chair, Tom Kelly, <br />Finance Director, citizens Paul Emeott and Gordon Kordosky. <br /> <br />September 19, 2017, Agenda <br />A motion was made by Councilmember Lindner, seconded by Councilmember Artig-Swomley to approve <br />the agenda for September 19, 2017, motion passed. Agenda approved. <br /> <br />Minutes <br />Councilmember Artig-Swomley made a motion, seconded by Councilmember Lindner to approve the <br />minutes for August 15, 2017, motion passed. Minutes approved. <br /> <br />Committee Reports <br />Ben Johnson, Planning Commission chair reported on the concept plan for Tom Hansen’s property on <br />County Road E. <br /> <br />Old Business <br />Newsletter ideas –Why the city does buffer zones, Dan Marier, history of split rail fences, White Bear <br />Lake Police Department, city continues to advertise for openings at the planning commission and city <br />council level. Next edition – November/December. January issue, 2017 accomplishments. <br /> <br />New Business <br />Presentation of 2018 Draft City Budget and Public Hearing, Tom Kelly <br />Finance Director Tom Kelly presented the 2018 Draft City Budget. Councilmember Artig-Swomley made <br />a motion, seconded by Councilmember Lindner to approve Resolution 2017-12, Draft City Budget and <br />Public Hearing. Motion passed. Resolution approved. <br /> <br />2018 Fire Services Contract with White Bear Lake Fire Department <br />A motion was made by Councilmember Lindner, seconded by Councilmember Artig-Swomley to approve <br />the Fire Services Contract with White Bear Lake Fire Department. Motion passed, contract approved. <br /> <br />Heritage Garden Court Issue <br />A motion was made by Councilmember Artig-Swomley, seconded by Councilmember Lindner to send a <br />letter to residents living on the Heritage Garden cul-de-sac to inquire as to having the City of Gem Lake <br />take over their cul-de-sac. Motion passed, letters will be sent to residents. <br /> <br />Resolution 2017-11, White Bear Lake Food Shelf and White Bear Lake Senior Program -Meals on <br />Wheels <br />A motion was made by Councilmember Lindner, seconded by Councilmember Artig-Swomley to approve <br />$1,000.00 for the White Bear Lake Food Shelf, Kid Pack Program and $1,000.00 for the White Bear Lake <br />Senior Program, Meals on Wheels, funds thru charitable gambling. Motion passed. Resolution <br />approved. <br />
