<br />2. Study and make recommendations to the City Council on any necessary changes to the park <br />dedication ordinance or other city ordinances. <br /> <br />3. Review and make recommendations to the City Council on proposed purchases of land for parks, <br />trails or other recreational facilities by the city. <br /> <br />4. Accept such other and further duties as may, from time to time, be directed by the City Council, <br />including conducting hearings. <br /> <br />5. The parks and recreation commission shall hold at least one regular meeting each month, unless cancelation <br />has been approved by the Mayor or City Council. Parks and recreation members are required to attend at <br />least half of the planning commission’s regular and special meetings in each calendar year, unless <br />specifically excused by the planning commission chairperson because of unforeseeable circumstances. <br />Excused absences shall be so noted in the minutes of the applicable meeting. Failure to meet this <br />attendance requirement in a given calendar year, shall result in automatic removal from the Parks and <br />Recreation Commission as of December 31 of that calendar year. <br /> <br />6. The parks and recreation commission created herein is not a park board as defined by Minnesota Statutes § <br />412.511 to § 412.531 and shall not exercise the powers granted by that statute, which are hereby reserved to <br />the City Council. <br /> <br />Section 6 5. Severability. Should any section, subdivision, clause or other provisions of this Ordinance be held to <br />be invalid by any court of competent jurisdiction, such decision shall not affect the validity of the Ordinance as a <br />whole, or of any part thereof, other than the part held to be invalid. <br /> <br />Section 7. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and <br />publication. <br /> <br />Dated: February 19, 2008 <br /> <br />Section 7 6. Enactment.
