Gem Lake News Page 5 of 8 <br /> <br /> Thank You to Laurel Hynes- <br />Amlee <br /> <br />The Gem Lake City Council wishes to thank departing <br />council member Laurel Hynes-Amlee for her years of <br />service to the City of Gem Lake. Her current term ends <br />this year. <br /> <br />Laurel was first appointed to the council in 2020 to fill a <br />vacancy that happened when the late Bob Uzpen, then <br />Mayor, died and another council member, Gretchen <br />Artig-Swomley automatically became Acting Mayor. <br />Later that year, Laurel ran for election and won a seat on <br />the City Council for a four-year term. <br /> <br />Prior to this, Laurel had spent a year serving on the Gem <br />Lake Planning Commission. She is a long-term resident <br />of the City and has worked in various capacities at White <br />Bear Floral for many years.
