RESOLUTION NO. �02NO023 <br />AUTHORIZE CITY OF GEM LAKE PARTICIPATION IN THE MINNESOTA PUBLIC*WORKS <br />JOINT POWERS MUTUAL AID AGREEMENT <br />WHEREAS, Minnesota Statutes, Section 471.59 authorizes governmental units by <br />agreement of their governing bodies to jointly or cooperatively exercise any power common..ta <br />them; and <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota Public Works Joint. Powers Mutual Aid Agreement is to. <br />provide-a1brmal process for units of government to assist other agencies within the State of <br />Minnesota; with public works personnel, equipment and resources as requested. <br />WHEREAS, the. Agreement allows other governmental units to become a party. to the <br />Agreement by aci i on. of their respective .governing bodies and sending notice to .Hennepin <br />County Emergency Management which: has been designated to serve as the administrative <br />coordinator for the: units. of goverriment entering into this Agreement; and <br />WHEREAS, the .goveiriing--b6dy of the City of Gem Lake considers it to be in the. best <br />interests bf the Cityy to be a party to the Agreement. <br />NOW, THEREFORE, _BE IT ItF.SOLVED TITAT*THE CITY COUNCII, OF {;Elvf LAKE, <br />MINNESOTA THAT: <br />The Mayor &authorized and directed to sign this resolution evidencing the intent of the.City of <br />Gem Lake to be.a. party to Minnesota.
