Highway 51, on the east side of the city. The. lot is <br />rectangular in shape,. and is 1.85 acres in size, per County records. The property.includes an existing <br />house; an6a barn previously used for housing horses. The site is fairly flat, with the lot gradually sloping <br />west towards the street: The east.side of the. property is bounded:by the railroad tracks, and the city's <br />border with White Bear Lake, <br />Land Use: Single -Family Residential <br />PROJECT INFORMATION <br />The applicant is proposing to use an existing Barn on the site to -house -two goats. A fenced in.area for the <br />two. goats totaling 1,854 SF would.be installed east of the barn. The existing barn is approximately 430 <br />SF in size, and was.previously used under preyious owners for housingfarm animals. (horses) as well. <br />Consolidated Land Use Ordinance Requirements <br />The Consolidated Land Use .ord.inance. outlines. what.uses are. permitted in -each zoning district. Section <br />7.3.1 notes that a CUP or IUP can be issued.for "the harboring and housing of agricultural animals on lots <br />greater than one (1,.D) acre". The applicant's property is over the one acre in size, so.this requirement is <br />met. Staff reviewed city files, and found that there :are not many -permits or records of properties in the city <br />having farm. animals, so this: is a bit of a unique .or uncommon request. <br />Section 7.3,3 notes that agricultural structures are able to be perm itted.to house farm. animals, such as <br />goats. The.site already has.an existing barn that was previously used for housing farm animals.
