Members <br />TOPIC: 5horf.Term.Horne Rentals <br />FROM: Bill Turnblad, Community Development Director <br />INRODUCTION <br />In August of this year the City Council approved a contract with Hoisington Koegler <br />Group, Inc, (HKGi) to assist the City with a study on short term home rentals (STHR).. <br />That study is,now complete and ready for City Council consideration at the December <br />(th work session. <br />STUDY CHRONOLOGY <br />September Consultant: team reviews :available literature; researches how <br />other Minnesota cities address STHR; develops and. administers <br />community questionnaire <br />October. Staff holds stakeholder meeting to review study materials and <br />discuss :issues <br />November Consultant team finalizes draft of study report; Planning <br />Cornmission reviews study <br />December City Council review work session <br />PURPOSE OF WORK SESSION <br />The purpose of the work session, to which the stakeholders group:has been invited,. is <br />to review the study,. consider alternatives; and either: <br />I, Determine that the current. prohibition on short term home rentals should <br />t'emain in place; or. <br />2. Determine that allowing short term home rentals is desirable .in Stillwater and <br />direct staff to develop a draft ordinance. and hold public. hearings .before the <br />Planning Commission and City.Council; or <br />3.
