Ordinance No, 45 Garbage. and: <br />Refuse Update <br />TKDA Project No.: 20459.0001 <br />Client..No..: <br />SUBJECT: Discussion regarding updating the Garbage and Refuse Ordinance <br />MEETING DATE: November 14, 2023 <br />ITEMS REVIEWED: Results of Garbage Hauler Survey <br />OVERVIEW <br />City Staff sent out a survey to residents and' businesses within the city, looking. to receive feedback regarding their <br />garbage hauling provider:.The:responses received.were.revieweid, with the.results sumniarized in this memo. <br />SURVEY <br />206: residential surveys and 24 commercial surveys were sent out; The. city received:66 responses from <br />residences; and 11 responsesfrorn businesses. This equates to a response rate of 32% for resident surveys, and <br />46% for commercial surveys -The survey asked respondents to answer the following questions: <br />name and..address, their current hauler, satisfaction rating of their.service (Extremely Satisfied, Somewhat <br />Satisfied, Neither Satisfied or Dissatisfied, Somewhat Dissatisfied, and Extremely Dissatisfied), approximate <br />monthly cost, and. whether the respondent thought the city should contract garbage hauling services. in the future. <br />Resi.dentia[Res ponses <br />Residents identified: three providers for hauling: Waste Management, Republic .Services, and Gene's Disposal <br />Services, Waste Management -and Republic each served 2G'respondents, while Gene's: served '14.. Table 1 below <br />summarizes how respondents. rated. their service provider. Overall, 67% of resident respondents were 'extremely <br />satisfied' with their service,.and.?0%.were 'somewhat satisfied Six. percent .were.neither :satisfied nor dissatisfied. <br />Each provider had most respondents rate them as 'extremely satisfied'.. <br />Table 1.
