4 4 KRUNCH Storage, Joe Huth
Gem Lake, Minnesota

Proposed Stormwater Management

Rate control will be achieved via a small basin located in the southwest portion of the site. A 48-inch outlet
control structure (OCS) with an exposed 15-inch orifice & split grate top will regulate the discharge. This
OCS will connect to the existing storm inlet and outlet in the area, bypassing upstream stormwater flow.
We have directed as much stormwater as practicable to the basin to reduce overall runoff. Table 1 presents
peak discharges for the entire site. Tables 2 and 3 provide a comparison between existing and proposed
directional runoff conditions under Type II 24-hour storm events. In all cases, the proposed runoff rates are
lower than the existing conditions.

Table 1 –Total Site
Storm Event Existing Runoff Rate (1R) (cfs) Proposed Runoff Rate (1R) (cfs)
2-year (2.79”) 3.28 3.11
10-year (4.17”) 5.33 4.96
100-year (7.29”) 9.50 8.20

Table 2 – Site to East
Storm Event Existing Runoff Rate (2S) (cfs) Proposed Runoff Rate (2S) (cfs)
2-year (2.79”) 0.61 0.57
10-year (4.17”) 0.99 0.95
100-year (7.29”) 1.86 1.84

Table 3– Site to West
Storm Event Existing Runoff Rate (2R) (cfs) Proposed Runoff Rate (2R) (cfs)
2-year (2.79”) 2.72 2.61
10-year (4.17”) 4.42 4.12
100-year (7.29”) 7.83 6.60

Refer to Appendix B and C for additional information on modeling and storm sewer calculations.
Conclusion

The proposed design for the KRUNCH commercial property meets the design requirements of the City of
Gem Lake.
This report was created by Land & Resource Consulting.
