Estimates for <br />2018 show that 23% of all households in Gem Lake experience a cost burden, 18% being <br />homeowners and 60% being renters, according to the ACS in 2018. <br />The 2018 median gross rent is $1,375 with no renters paying less than $500 per month. <br />The highest category of $1,500 or greater has seven renters. <br />Although there are a great number of employment opportunities within Gem Lake, few <br />residents are also employed here. Of 279 workers age 16 or above, 242 drove <br />themselves to their place of employment while 11 carpooled. Six workers walked to work <br />while six more rode public transportation. Only 13 workers worked from their homes. <br />The mean travel time was 24.7 minutes indicating most workers were employed outside <br />of Gem Lake. <br /> <br /> <br /> <br />
