GEM LAKE UILL'A�F <br />September 22nd 1959 <br />An informal meeting was held at the John Daniels home for the purpose <br />of getting the village underway, by setting up a slate of officers for <br />the first election. <br />Present at this meeting were ; Francis D. Butler, Henry Hoffman, Mrs. <br />Judson Bemis, Mrs. Don Opstad, Mrs. Anne White, the Chas Schifskys, the <br />John Daniels, the Cranford Inghams, the John Morgans and Marny Donnelly. <br />The following officers were nominated for the first election, and of <br />course other nominations may be made to the judges before the election <br />is held. <br />For Mayor - Henry Hoffman <br />For Clerk - John Morgan <br />For Trustees - Three. <br />Richard Arcand <br />John Gray <br />Mrs. Don Opstad <br />For Justices of the Peace - Two. <br />Cranford Ingham <br />Stan Donnelly <br />For Constable - Two. <br />Robert Braun <br />Chas. Schifsky <br />For Assessor - One <br />Mrs Judson Bemis <br />For Treasurer - One <br />Mrs. Arthur (Loraine) Berglund. <br />Mr.Butler reportdd that we could secure police protection from the <br />sherifs office at a yearly cost of S1,008.00 (+ or - S) and this was <br />accpeted as a necessary move, even before the elction. Henry Hoffman was <br />asked to arrange for fire protection to become available immediately upon <br />organization.The council of fibe ( three trustees ,mayoo & clerk) should <br />meet immediately after the elction and confirm the above. <br />
