THE ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTH i`EETING - VILLAGE OF GEM. LAKE - &uncil - <br />AUGUST 20th, 1968 - ifoffmans Corners `-'-'_ 1. <br />The Mayor called the meeting to order at 8:08 pm . <br />THE CLEITi CALLED THE ROLL - <br />PRE:.PTTT - Htffmar_ , Arcand, Bigelow, Ward, Knutson. <br />In the absence of the Village Cleric, Pdr. John E. P. Morgan, <br />Victor Knutson acted in his capacity, Knutson being the Treasurer of the <br />Villge. Also present: Mts. lard, Joe McG'_mnds, Stanley Ross, Dean <br />Yoberick, Robert Cartier and Mr. Harry Lovering. <br />Mr. Lovering was present in response to aletter from Fr. J. Bemis, <br />regarding tine lighting for the Chrysler building and used car lot. fie stated <br />that it v,— l have 25 candles of lumens at 3N feet generally but that there may be <br />hot spots directly under the light source which may raise this to 30 candles. <br />The lighta are adjustable and cam be beamed as desired. Mr. Lovering requested <br />that this variance from tl7.e Village ordinance be waived. A letter from McDonald <br />of the Cerny Engineering Co. :-pas read by the acting clerk as well as other <br />letters lertairing to the subject. The mayor said he would arrange a meeting <br />at the ea.rl_sst possible time with Mr. Bemis and Mr. Lovering to decide on this <br />matter. Robert Cartier, Village Electrica: InspectAr said the d_.ffererce <br />between 25 and 30 candles T.ould not be readily noticeable. Salverdo is his deputy electrical inspector. <br />Mr. Stan Rcss reported that the course on Government will begin Sept 18th, in <br />Vednais Heights. T1-.ey need 20 people and now have 15. Flyers will be sent out. <br />Mr. Koverni.ck reported that the petit' -on for the 30 mile speed limit ',"as <br />still beintg worked on. <br />1 BUSINESS <br />The Acting Clerk read a letter to the Council from Mr. Richard Hanson. <br />The Council made no comment. The Acting Clerk reported that a request from the <br />Ramsey County Auditor concerning the village budget for Lal,•� Enforcement for the <br />Calendar year 1967 was answered by sending him the amount spent amounting to <br />k1581.58. The Acting Clerk read a fetter from the P,c ._ County Commissioners <br />Cffice requesting the Cour:cil not to approve any plans for any street, roadway <br />or drivetray entering on to a County road, without requiring the devel-per or <br />contra -tor responsible, to submit such plans to the Ramsey County Highway Engineer <br />Mr. Deane Anklan, for approval. Vembership for the League of Mu,icipalities <br />was postponed until the return of the Village Clerk. The Acting; Cleric reported <br />a fire during the month at Yrs. H.C. Freema.ns residence cost the village <br />a two hour fire charge, 0300.00 <br />
