THIRTY THIRD MEETING - VILLAGE OF GEM LAKE COUNCIL <br />MAY 15th 1962 - HOFFMANS CORNERS HALL <br />1.THE MAYOR CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 8:30 FM <br />2. MOVED BY HANSEN AND SECONDED BY GRAY T IE'iT RFADI14G OF THE MINUTES <br />OF THE PREVIOUS METING HELD APRIL 17th, BE DISPENSED WITH - All Ayes. <br />4. PRESENTATIONS FROM THE FLOOR - None <br />5. REPORTS OF COy,24ITTEES - <br />a. Bemis reported for the planning Com., that he had heard <br />nothing from Dahlgren lately but would urge him to further <br />progress. <br />b. Bemis reported for the Lai{e Area Planning Com., on two items. <br />Item ;"l had to do with a plan of Vadnais Heights to zone <br />commercial a lar e area to the south of E. County Road E and <br />West of Highway 61. After considerable discussion it was moved <br />by Hoffman and seconded by Gray that - The Village of Gem Lake <br />Council, through our representatives on the Lake Area Planning <br />Com.,request the Planning Com. of Vadnais Heights to restrict <br />the commercial zone'on the South Side of E. County Road E and <br />West of Highway #61, to the Western Bpundary of the Hansen <br />Property on the South Side of E. County Road E. All Ayes. <br />Bemis also raised the question of the need or advisability of <br />an interchange on new Mghway #35 at E. County Road E., and if <br />we should urge the Highway Dept. to dispensew ith same. After <br />a great deal of discussion it seemed to be the opinion of the <br />co$ncil that this interchange might produce business traffic <br />for Gem Lake Village. No action was recommended. <br />6. UNFINISHED BUSINESS - <br />a. The Clerk reported the reualt of the liquor election held <br />April 24th 1962 - Total votes cast 73 out a total of 164 <br />registered voters - 43 NO - 30 YES. <br />7.
