FIFTIETH MEETING - VILLAGE OF GEM LAKL COUNCIL OCTOBER 15th 1963 - HOFFMANS CORNERS tiALL 1. THE MAYOR CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 8:18 PM. 2. THE CLERK. CALLED THE ROLL - PRESENT, - H. Hoffman, Arcand, Hansen, Gray, Dorgan and later Dave Hoffman. ABSENT - none Also present were J. Bemis,planning com., Mrs. & Mrs Stan Donnelly and Mrs. & Mrs. Ltd LaFore. 3. TIE CURK READ THE MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING HELD SEPTEMBER 17th 1963 - moved by Hansen and seconded by A,,cand that same be approved as read. All ayes. THE CLERK ALSO READ THE MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL I~1EETIEG HELD SEPT. 25th 1963 with regard to the sewer and a letter dated October 12th 1963 to the City of White Bear Lake requesting sewer service and signed by the members of the council. On motion by Hoffman and seconded by Arcand the same were approved as read. All ayes. 4. PRESENTATIONS FROM THE FLOOR - a. Mr. & Mrs. Donnelly requested that the council urge the Summit Farm Dairy to place stop signs at the exit of their driveways into E. County Road E. Hansen reported that the signs had already been purchased and w ula be installed shortly. b. Mr. & Mrs. Llloyd LaPore requested that the council enquire from the County Engineer if it would be possible to place posts or other protection at the intersection of Schuneman R6ad and Otter Lake Road, to prevent motorists from dribing: up onto the La$ore property. Mayor Hoffman stated that he would consult with the county engineer. A petition signed by eleven registered voters in the Village of Gem Lake,iapresented to the council requesting; that the issue 4 "whether the sale of intoxicating liquor shall be permitted ry witlidn the village", be submitted to the voters at the next village elction. The clerk was instructed to place such notice in the White Bear Press and to prepare the necessary ballots,e'�c. 5. RETORTS OF CO121ITTI ES - a. Re Subdivision Regulations - A notice had been placed in the White Rear Press mta annoucing that a public hearing would be held on this subject at the Council Meeting to be held on October 15th 1963. Judson Bemis, chairman of the planning committee read excerpts from the regulations prepared by Midwest Planning & Research, and explained in general the purpose of smith r•egulations.There was little discussion and few questions. Hansen moved and Gray seconded that these regulations be approved and accepted by the council and published as OtWINANCE #6 (eight). All ayes. Mayor Hoffman thm Iced Bemis for his work with the planning com, and stated that he felt that the village had done a farsighted job in .getting plarnir_g program completed.
