FIFTIETH MEETING - VILLAGE OF GEM LAKL COUNCIL <br />OCTOBER 15th 1963 - HOFFMANS CORNERS tiALL <br />1. THE MAYOR CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 8:18 PM. <br />2. THE CLERK. CALLED THE ROLL - <br />PRESENT, - H. Hoffman, Arcand, Hansen, Gray, Dorgan and later <br />Dave Hoffman. <br />ABSENT - none <br />Also present were J. Bemis,planning com., Mrs. & Mrs <br />Stan Donnelly and Mrs. & Mrs. Ltd LaFore. <br />3. TIE CURK READ THE MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING HELD SEPTEMBER <br />17th 1963 - moved by Hansen and seconded by A,,cand that same be <br />approved as read. All ayes. <br />THE CLERK ALSO READ THE MINUTES OF THE SPECIAL I~1EETIEG HELD SEPT. <br />25th 1963 with regard to the sewer and a letter dated October 12th <br />1963 to the City of White Bear Lake requesting sewer service and <br />signed by the members of the council. On motion by Hoffman and <br />seconded by Arcand the same were approved as read. All ayes. <br />4. PRESENTATIONS FROM THE FLOOR - <br />a. Mr. & Mrs. Donnelly requested that the council urge the Summit <br />Farm Dairy to place stop signs at the exit of their driveways <br />into E. County Road E. Hansen reported that the signs had already <br />been purchased and w ula be installed shortly. <br />b. Mr. & Mrs. Llloyd LaPore requested that the council enquire <br />from the County Engineer if it would be possible to place posts <br />or other protection at the intersection of Schuneman R6ad and <br />Otter Lake Road, to prevent motorists from dribing: up onto the <br />La$ore property. Mayor Hoffman stated that he would consult with <br />the county engineer. <br />A petition signed by eleven registered voters in the Village <br />of Gem Lake,iapresented to the council requesting; that the issue <br />4 "whether the sale of intoxicating liquor shall be permitted <br />ry witlidn the village", be submitted to the voters at the next <br />village elction. The clerk was instructed to place such notice <br />in the White Bear Press and to prepare the necessary ballots,e'�c. <br />5. RETORTS OF CO121ITTI ES - <br />a. Re Subdivision Regulations - A notice had been placed in the <br />White Rear Press mta annoucing that a public hearing would be <br />held on this subject at the Council Meeting to be held on October <br />15th 1963. <br />Judson Bemis, chairman of the planning committee read excerpts <br />from the regulations prepared by Midwest Planning & Research, <br />and explained in general the purpose of smith r•egulations.There <br />was little discussion and few questions. <br />Hansen moved and Gray seconded that these regulations be approved <br />and accepted by the council and published as OtWINANCE #6 (eight). <br />All ayes. <br />Mayor Hoffman thm Iced Bemis for his work with the planning com, <br />and stated that he felt that the village had done a farsighted <br />job in .getting plarnir_g program completed. <br />
