FIFTY-FIRST MEETING - VILLAGE OF GEM LAKE COUNCIL <br />NCVEMBE H 19th 1963 - HOFFMANS CORNERS HALL <br />1. THE MATOR CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT <br />8:20 PM <br />2. THE CLARK CALLED THE ROLL - <br />PRESENT- H. Hoffman, Arcand, Hansen, Gray, Morgan and Dave <br />Hoffman, others Art Birkeland and Earl Labore. <br />ABSENT - none. <br />3. THE CLERK READ THE MINUTES OF THE PREVIOS MEETING HELD OCTOBER <br />15th 1963 - moved by Hansen ans seconded by Gray that same be <br />accepted as read. all ayes. <br />4.PRESENTATIONS FROM THE FLOOR - none. <br />5. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES - <br />a. Though Bemis chairman of the planning Ott committee <br />could not be present he had asked Herb Towsley to prsent to <br />the council his present plans for the Ford agency on the <br />Summit Farm Corner. <br />Towlsey presented the plans vhich had received the approval of <br />Howard Dahlgren of Midwest Planning and Research and Bemis and <br />asked the council for one exception to the?-. Zoning Ordinance #5 <br />as follows: "The ordinance would require a space of 20 feet <br />to be left between the edge of the highway property and Tousley's <br />black top service road. In view,however, of the extensive grass <br />area between the actual highway (#61) and the edge of the high- <br />way proerty, there seems little point in forcing this require- <br />ment, and, therefore, the margin between the edge of the highway <br />property and the service road is only 5 feet." Moved by Gray and <br />seppnded by Arcand that this exception be granted, all ayes. <br />b. Morgan reported that at the request of Hoffman and Hansen he had <br />written to the City Of White Bear Lake requesting that no further <br />action be taken on the sewer matter until more economic arrange- <br />ments might become available. <br />6. UNIFINISHED BUSINESS - none. <br />7. NEW BUSINESS - <br />a. Upon motion made by Arcand and seconed by Hansen the followl ng <br />Christmas tree licenses were granted - Clarence Wild ($10.00) <br />White Bear Floral ($10.00) Stenger W0.00). all ayes. <br />b. Morgan reported that in his opinion it is necessary for the <br />council to pass a liquor licensing ordinance before any applic- <br />ations can be considered.Moragn had secured from the League of <br />Minn. Municp. a short form ordinance and explanations which he <br />read in part to the council. It was the opinion of the council <br />that the village should have the benefit of legal counsel on this <br />item and Morgan was asked to sbmit the same to F.D. Butler for <br />advice and opinion. <br />c. Morgan was requested to consult with the County Highway safety <br />man Mr. Chenoworth, regarding; the Labore corner at Schuneman <br />Road and Otter Lake Road. <br />8.
