EIGHTY :: FIRST MEETING - VILLA -GE OF GEM LAKE COUNCIL APRIL 19th 1966 - HOPWANS CORNERS HALL 1. THE MAYOR CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 8:22 PM. 2. THE CLERK CALLED THE ROLL - PRESENT - H. L. Hoffman, John Gray, Dick Arcand, John Morgan. Guests - Dick Hansen & son, C. Wild and others. ABSENT - Allen Hansen, John Ward. _ 3. TIC,' CLERK READ THE 11IPNTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING HELD MARCH 15th 1966 - Moved by Gray and seconded by Arcand that same be approved as read - All ayes. 4. PRESENTATIONS FROM TIPS FLOOR. - a. Dwyer enquired about a new kind of bottle license which 9. permitted customers to bring their own bottle and get set-ups and take their bottle away with them - not a bottle club ? First check - "Bottlet Clubs or spiking Establishements" - get their licenses from the liquor control co. - but x villages may in addition dedide to control^ XWhUp aces in their oun areas. 5. REPORTS OF CO1U,ITTEES - a. The planning ecx(imittee did not have a report ready for this meeting wifrl regard to the inquiries of Dick Hansen. Mayor Hoffman explained that the planning committee expected to be able to report at the May meeting and that he would call Chairman Bemis and urge hir- to have His report ready. Hansen was disturbed by the delay, claims he wants to use his property and might proceed without regard to the zoninF? regulations. ( note: It took two years and cost more than ;.-,000 to prepare the zoning and subdivision regulations - Hansen's letter to Bemis is dated March 5th, 1966 so the com. has had just six weeks to igork on it ) 6. UNFINISHED BUSIIESS - a. Cole Oehler submitted to Judge John Kirby on March 25th,1966 a resolfion as follows " Resolution providing for a joint Municipal Court for the Villa es of Maplewood, Little Canada, / Vadnais Heights and Gem Lake . Jbd.ge Kirby called John Morgan on Monday April 18th and advised him that he considered this resolution to be almost perfect - he would not change a word - and he ( Kirby) would procedd at once to submit it to the other Villages for approval before July Ist 1966. Moved by Arcand and seconded by Gray that Oehlers "resolution " be and hereby is approved by the Gem Take Village Council.All ayes. b. Clerk Morgan submitted resolution 2J50 on workmens compensation for police officers to the council - Moved by Arcand and secon- ded by Gray that same be approved and Gent to North Ogks and Sheriff Weber, All ayes. ( both above resolutions attached to these minutes.) 7. NEW BUSINESS - a. In reply to a letter from letter from Donald Strange, council- man of City of White Benr Lake, the clerk was instructed to reply stating that the Village of Gem Lake Council look favorably upon his suggestion with regard to "Gallfs Golf Course".
