Couneilmembers:Len.Cacioppo, Laurel <br />Antlee, Ben Jand <br />d Jim ..Liindner were present. Also presents City.Attorney Patrick Kelly, Acting City. Clerk <br />Melissa Lawrence, Planning Commission Chair Don Cummings, and residents Rick Bosak, Nick Cress and Sharon <br />Roland. <br />June 21, 2022 Agenda <br />A mat ion was made by Councilmembei Linder to :accept the agenda, tbrided.by Couneilinember-Of6dppo. Wed <br />vote.taken, all voted yes; inotion.passes, agenda accepted. <br />Minutes <br />A motion -was made by Councilmember Lindner, seconded by CouncilmemberCaciioppo to approve. the May 17, <br />2022, City Council Meeting Minutes. Voice vote taken, -all voted yes, motion passes, minutes approved.. <br />A motion was made by Counciliember Lindner, seconded by Councilmember Cacioppo to accept the;June 14, <br />2022, Planning Commission Meeting Minutes. Voice.vote taken, all. voted yes, motionpas ses,.minutet accepted. <br />Committee Reports— Planning Commission <br />Planning Commission Chair Don Cummings -gave a report of the Planning Commission meeting on June 14, 2022. <br />The Commission recommended approval :ofthe Comprehensive Plan to the City Council. Also discussed was how <br />the City can. maintain the -small town environment, creating. and maintaining. high quality building throughout, and <br />would like to see what'can'beoome ofHoffntaWt Comer area in the future. <br />Mayor Artig-Swo:niley suggested to the Commission that the City needs a. better defined.list of permitted. uses within <br />the. Gateway District and that a. couple.Ordinances.throughout the year should be reviewed for any possible:changes. <br />Old Business <br />Mayor Artig-Swomley shared the final draft of the July newsletter with the Council -and asked for final suggestions <br />before it gets sent to the printer. T1ie Council thought it looked good, but wanted to add a little .blurb about recycling, <br />The Mayor also stated that she would like to get another Newsletter out in early: August. Somesuggestions for the <br />August Newsletter could include a lead -story on recycling contractors, invitation.and information .about thevater <br />summit, a pollinator article .and a mention of the: scholarship winners. <br />�`ew Bum. <br />Approval of 2640 Comprehensive :Plait <br />Mayor Artig-Swomley shared thatthe 2040. Comprehensive Plan has gone through its final reviewprocess with the <br />Metropolitan Council and is complete with the exception of the one edit already agreed upon concerning addition of <br />the small Gdn Lake trail. The plan now needs to -be accepted by the City of Gem Lakes :City Council by Resolution. <br />Resolution #20224014 Adoption of 2040 Comprehegsiye Plan <br />The motion .for adoption of the foregoing.ResolutioR with the exception of the. one edit already agreed upon <br />concerning the new City trail was introduced by-Couneilmember Lindner and seconded by Councilmember <br />Cacioppo; and upon vote being taken thereon, the Resolution passed with a vote of 5 in favor and 0 against. <br />Garden Overlay Interim Use Permit <br />Bryan Hansen submitted. an application' for renewal of an Interim Use Permit to have.a garden on County Road E. <br />Mayor Artig=Swomley'suggested:the Council approve the application .based on the;§am.e requirements set. from the <br />initial Application. Councilmember.Lind»er.introduced a mot"ion.to approve theinterim [JsePermit based op -the <br />already agreed upon conditions, seconded by Councilmember Cacioppo.
