E). ADD NEW ZONING DISTRICT. OPEN SPACE/RECREATIONAL <br />DISTRICT "OSIR3' <br />Section 10- Open Space/Recreational District ow, <br />This zoning district is for land in the City :of Gern Lake reserved for: 1} open space or 2) <br />Recreational uses. There cunrOntly is no publicly held open or recreation space within the City of <br />Gem Lake. The only recreational facility within the City is a private golf course and it is the <br />desire of the City to have the golf.course property remain recreational in nature. There inay be a <br />need in the future for small neighborhood "parks" in other areas of the. City. <br />The City desires that this golf course recreational area. space use be continued in the future. <br />Based on past zoning practices, the golf course owners wishes, and. the Cities likely inability to <br />purchase the golf course property., the golf course will continue as a conditional use within <br />residential districts. The land under the golf course is currently zoned as. being in the "`R.E" <br />zoning district. <br />(NOTES: the only reference to the OSTR zoning district currently is located in Section 13 of the <br />Zoning Ordinance- PUD) The balance of the text above comes directly from the 2008 <br />Comprehensive plan <br />.Section 10.1 Uses <br />10.1.1 A golf course shall be a conditional use in residential areas of the City of Gem Lake. <br />10.1.2. Public parks may be provided as part of development formed by a. PI7D in residential <br />areas in the City. <br />M1.3 - The. City will continue to explore options .for acquiring true. public open spaces: or <br />preservation areas, focusing on land which directly impacts the water quality of the water body <br />called Gem Lake. <br />F) MISCELLANEOUS CHANGES IN THE ,ZONING ORDINANCE <br />Make the following changes. in the labeled section <br />1) Section 13 —Planned Unit Developments <br />Change in Section 'I3.2.2 <br />Change. to now read -A PUD is an allowable .conditional use in all zoning districts in. the <br />City of Genf Lake" except for the 'OS/R." District,. but add. a. statement that "a."QS/R" District right be <br />included in a PCTD".. <br />—15— <br />
