(IOQO) <br />Capital Outlay (cont.): <br />The 2016 Budget irioludes funding to replace the radios and pagers essential for <br />department member communications and. the self-contained breathing apparatus <br />(SCBA) units worn by members during firefighting situations. Even trough the budget. <br />includes a significant amount. for bath of these purchases, the radios will Pnly be <br />purchased when replacement is absolutely necessary and. the. SCBA units will only be <br />received if a grant can be secured to cover the.purchase casts. <br />Three aging department squads are also included for replacement during 2016. These <br />vehicles allvw.department officers to quickly respond to. a call for service with.necessary <br />gear without having to stop by the station to get either a vehicle or equipment. The fire <br />engine replacement listed in the 2017 replaces a 23 year old. truck currently used for call <br />response. The purchase is currently under review. Management acknowledges that <br />the truck is alder but is trying to balance the decision what equipment the department. <br />can afford to replace. and how to schedule the purchases to for the least impact on the <br />budget since the .replacement cost is very high.
