TWENTY-EIGHTH MEETING - VIILAGE OF GEM LAKE CCUNCIL DECEMBER 19th 1961 - HOFFMANS CORNERS HALL ' 1. THE MAYOR CALLED THE MEETI]VT TO ORDER AT 8 :30 IM 2. THE CLERK CALLED THE ROIL - PRESENT - TSoffman, Arcand Hansen, Gray, Dave Hoffman and John Morgan - later joVned by Art Birkeland. 3. THE CI-7RK READ THE MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING HELD NOVEMBER 21st 1961 - Moved by Gray and seconded by Hansen the same be approved as read - ALL AYES. 11. PRESENTATIONS FROM THE FLOOR - Arthur Birkeland raised the question of liquor licenses. The clerk reported that he had been advised by the League of Minnesota Municipalities that the Village council could grant an INTOXICl,TING LIQUOR license without a village vote because the village was in a wet county, but that it was customary to put the question to a vote of the residents. IT WAS MOVED BY HOFFMAN AND SECONDED BY ARCAND THIL'_' THE COUNCIL SUBMIT THIS QUESTION TO THE VOTERS UPON RECEIPT OF A PETITION. ALL AYES. Birkeland advised that he would try to secure a petition. 5. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES - Morgan reported that he had attended a meeting of the Labe Area Planning Distrt&t, at which nothing took place. He advised,however that at the January meeting (second Wednesday) the Highway Dept., would send a representative to talk about the new THRU-WAY. 6. UNFINISHED BUSINESS - None 7.
