Lake Area schools from 2008 through my xetirernent in <br />June 20.17, on occasion. I otll'er to write letters.of recommendation for high school students who. <br />demonstrate. exceptional scholarship, leudership;-service, and dharacter; Emily Marier is an <br />-exceptionally talented member of the senior class at NV.hite Bear Lake Area High School who <br />will be attending Century Cgl.lege::next-year .after her graduation from high school. <br />Emily and I His t became acquainted when t attended a. music progranrat Willow Lane <br />Elementary School and heard I'M grader Bmily sing the jVa i6nal Anthent in the program. From <br />that. young student cane a fgl.l and mature voice which so honored our Arathmial Ahi them that <br />asked her afterwards if shevvould be willing: to sing at an event I had in mind for a larger <br />.audience. She: graiiio4y accepted, rind her parents gave approval.. <br />The: next August, as the curtain opened to a -darkened auditorium at the, Q* pening &haul <br />C:oniraeation for more than 900 school staff, the spotlight shone on the diminutive Enii-ly. Her <br />voice filled the auditorium; her poise and genuine interpr-6* i.on warmed hearts; -.and many an eye <br />was.. moist with tears. It was, staff told me al:terwards..a moment of inspiration, with <br />administrators. teachers and aupport staff :determ-ining-to beat their bost for the year. <br />The-eveot was.the first of several for which I asked F'.nvjly tQ share het*talents. When I think of <br />the Journey I'have xvatched bmilv*take since -fifth grade,.I reflect on those qualities which she has <br />demonstrated, and i believe will -*make hor successful at Century -and eventually reach her goal of <br />becoming. 4-teacher: <br />1=int oral) Emily is a committed strident, a curious learner.. and exceptionalLy-glisciplined in her <br />rnuSic 4nd.inthe whole:of he[ school and personal life.
