G) New City .Hall matters: 1) Chairs have been purchased. A used funuture company will provide a bid for <br />outfitting the Sheriff's office, the mayor's office, and the small conference room. 2) Mayor Emeot has received an <br />inquiry from a Gem lake resident who is interested in doing custodial work for the new city hall. A discussion <br />regarding ensuring that a cleanup fee is included in rental fee for the room occurred. Mayor Emeolt will contact the <br />resident for a written price. 3) Still need first aid kit and AFD. "rhe sheriff may possibly have a projector that can be <br />installed in the conference room. 4) It is expected that signage for the building will exceed $10,000 so a formal RFP <br />will be put together. Mayor E'smeott is working with Bill Short of White Bear Township to put together a short <br />specification list. 5) Councilor Schilling is finding out what it would take to digitalize the city's records. Hope only <br />to have to move last year or so of paper files to the new city hall. Mayor Emeolt stated that a few file cabinets will <br />be purchased used for $10/each and repainted. <br />M- Elected vs. Appointed Sheriff: Mayor Emeolt stated that the County is looking at the possibility of moving <br />from an elected sheriff to one that is appointed. Currently almost all counties in the area have elected sheriffs. <br />Discussion by Councilors that an elected sheriff is preferred as they would then be more accountable to the people. <br />A motion was made by Schilling, Seconded by Artig-Swomla y for Mayor Emeott to write a letter in favor of an <br />elected sheriff was unanimously approved by voice vote. <br />1) City Hail Conference Room rental rate: Mayor Etneott asked the council for a recommendation on how <br />much to rent the conference room out for. He indicated he has already received a few inquiries. It was discussed that <br />the minimum fee should offset the costs of cleanup of the room and common areas. Mayor Emeo(t will request a <br />written quote from the city resident interested in janitor duties. A different price for residents and non-residents was <br />suggested. Further discussion is needed about after-hours rentals and how to lock up. This topic will be included in <br />the next agenda under old business <br />J) City Hall Grand Opening Celebration: Mayor Emeolt stated that the current date being discussed for the <br />celebration is Friday. March 10, White Bear Township personnel were not available for the Feb date. Mayor <br />Erneott requested that Council Artig--Swomley contact Bill Short at White Bear Township to coordinate activities. <br />"ibis topic will be included on next months agenda tinder old business. <br />l) City Newsletter (Artig-Swomley): Councilor Artig-Swomley discussed potential topics for the next <br />newsletter, These include: Evening with the mayor; Sheriff substations in the new city hall; Thank you to Tousley <br />Ford; Grand opening celebration of new city hall; Wanted items for new city stall; City resident profile; and do's <br />and Don'ts of what to put down the sewer. <br />PRESENTATIONS FROM THE ]FLOOR <br />None. <br />FUTURE CITY COUNCIL MEETINGS: <br />Next City Council Workshop —Monday, February 4, 2(X)S at 7:(X) p.m. the new Gent lake City ]-lull.
