One patrol car in particular is <br />dedicated to speed control and tickets an average of 15 speeders per day. The average <br />speeding ticket costs between $60 and $70, and can be even higher if the vehicle is <br />clocked going more than 16 miles over the speed limit. <br />"Some residents call and complain that traffic is moving too fast through <br />residential areas, but the standard speed limit is 30 miles -per -hour, and through a <br />neighborhood that is fast," he says. The SMART Unit is helpful in monitoring the speed <br />of traffic through neighborhoods to determine if problems exist. <br />"Our new radar systems have ways to circumvent the radar detectors or "fuzz <br />busters" that some drivers invest in," says Shanley.
