CITY OF GEM LAKE, MN <br />4200 Otter Lake Road <br />Gem Lake, MN 55110-3227 <br />Telephone 651-747-2790 <br />E-mail CitvCiegemlakeMN.org <br />Minutes of Gem Lake City Council Meeting <br />15 September 2009 <br />The regular meeting of the City Council of the City of Gem Lake was called to <br />order by Mayor Uzpen on Tuesday, September15, 2009 at 7:01 p.m. in the Gem <br />Lake City Hall meeting room. <br />The following members were present: Mayor Robert Uzpen, Council members <br />Gretchen Artig-Swomley, Charles Watson, Thomas Rasmussen and James <br />Lindner. Other members. of the .public were also in attendance per the. sign in <br />sheet sent around the room. <br />APPROVAL OF AGENDA AND MEETING MINUTES <br />City Council Agenda: Mayor Uzpen called for additions, deletions and <br />corrections to the agenda. No corrections or additions were added. Upon <br />motion by Councilmember Rasmussen, and seconded by Councilmember <br />Watson, the agenda was approved for September 15, 2009. <br />City Council Meeting Minutes: The. August 18, 2009 minutes were presented <br />and corrections were needed. Upon a motion by Councilmember Artig-Swomley, <br />and seconded by Councilmember Watson, the minutes of August 18, 2009 were <br />accepted with corrections being made. Ayes — 5, Nays — 0. <br />Planning Commission Minutes: The August 4, 2009 minutes were presented. <br />Upon motion by Councilmember Watson and seconded by Councilmember Artig- <br />Swomley, the May 5, 2009 minutes were accepted. Ayes - 5, Nays — 0. <br />OLD BUSINESS <br />City Newsletter — October, 2009: The Council discussed ideas for the October <br />newsletter. Councilmember Artig-Swomley stated that she was having problems <br />scheduling interviews. Some items mentioned were the Hilary Farms Fall <br />Festival, Mayor Robert Uzpen and his first months in office, and Fred Macalus <br />and his history of raising racing pigeons. In addition, an article on the budget and <br />now that it's fall, the proper steps to rid your yard of leaves. Mayor Uzpen <br />recommended a follow-up story of trimming branches that lean over the street <br />and that the homeowner needs to trim their tree branches before the winter <br />season. Mayor Uzpen discussed the cost of the monthly newsletter and how the <br />
