MINUTES OF MEETING:OF CITY COUNCIL OF CITY ❑F GEM LAKE The May Meeting of the City Council of the City of Gem Lake was calked to order on Monday, 16 May 1994, at 7:04 p.m. in the first floor meeting room of Tousley Ford. Mayor Emeott, Councilmembers Nielsen and Birkebak, Clerk Magnuson, and Treasurer Nordstrom were present. The minutes of the 18 April 1994 City Council Meeting were, upon motion duly made and seconded, unanimously approved with amendments.. Discussion then followed regarding the ownership of the "abandoned roadway" at the intersection of ❑tter Lake, Hoffman and Scheuneman roads. with no action taken. The Clerk then noted that the City Attorney is working on comple- tion of the Joint Powers Agreement with Vadnais Heights for Tousley Ford water supply. The Mayor noted that renewed interest has been expressed in developing a City Water proposal for the commercial corner of Geri Lake. A copy in the form of a letter from the City Attorney is attached as Exhibit "A". Mayor Emeott then indicated that there has been no meeting of the. Gem Lake Planning. Commission, Mayor Emeott then noted that a joint meeting of the Gem Lake and Vadnais Heights Planning Commission will be held in late May or early June. A meeting of the I-35E Corridor Study Committee is scheduled for 17 May with results to be published at the meeting. A City Roster and the additional Recycling Mailing need to be printed and delivered. The Clerk then reported on the: Smart. Cart arid traffic deputy. The new traffic deputy is Ken Splitsasser. Discussion of the need for patrol was discussed and the Clerk noted that we may, at any time, request sped patrol. The Clerk then noted that a letter to Gem Lake businesses has been prepared and will be sent to all Gem Lake businesses regarding Fire Inspections. A copy of the letter, attached hereto as Exhibit "B", was sent to Tim Vadnais at the White. Bear Lake Fire Department. Discussion then followed regarding the additional signs added t❑ Goose Lake Road near the west end. It was reported that since signs had been placed, another accident took place damaging the signs and the McMahon property. A letter to Ramsey County Public Works identifying the problem was ordered. The Clerk reported that T.A. Schifsky is preparing an estimate for repairs andongoing street maintenance. Said reports should beavailable for the June meeting. 1
