The City Council of the City of Gem Lake does hereby ordain: Section 1. Base Compensation. The base compensation of the Mayor and Council Members shall be increased, effective 12:01 a.m. on 01 January 2025, as follows: Monthly Annually Mayor $250.00 $3,000.00 Council Members $125.00 $1,500.00 Section 2. Additional Compensation. Additional compensation of $20.00 for each meeting (other than a regular meeting of the City Council) which any of the foregoing persons is directed by the City Council to attend. Section 3. Effective Date. This Ordinance shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication. Since that time, the City Council has made amendments to the Ordinances in keeping with the changing times and the wishes of the community. The following table indicates the original Ordinances and the said amendments. Ordinance Description Enactment 50 An Ordinance providing for compensation for the Mayor, Council 17 October 1988 Members, Treasurer, and Clerk. 62 An Ordinance replacing Ordinance No. 50 and providing for 17 August 1992 compensation for the Mayor, Council Members, Treasurer, and Clerk. 70 An Ordinance Repealing Ordinance No. 62 and providing for 01 January 1999 com ensation for the Mayor and Council Members. 70B An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 70 and providing for 19 December 2005 compensation for the Mayor and Council Members. 70C An Ordinance amending Ordinance No. 70B and providing for 21 October 2014 compensation for the Mayor and Council Members. 70C Section 1. Effective date updated 15 October 2024 Section 1. Table updated to reflect 25% annual increase. Mayor annual pay went from $2,400 to $3,000. Council Members annual pay went from $1,200 to $1,500.
