City of Gem Lake <br />County of Ramsey <br />State of Minnesota <br /> <br />Resolution No. 2025-041 <br /> <br />A RESOLUTION ADOPTING A POLICY FOR THE MINNESOTA FAMILY MEDICAL <br />LEAVE AND AUTHORIZING THE CITY CLERK TO ADD THE LANGUAGE TO THE <br />EMPLOYEE HANDBOOK <br /> <br />WHEREAS, during the 2025 Legislative Session, the Minnesota Legislature approved the <br />Minnesota Family Medical Leave Act (M.S.§268B); and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota Family Medical Leave is a State-Administered paid family and <br />medical leave insurance program beginning January 1, 2026; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the Minnesota Family Medical Leave program is funded in large part by the <br />employer premium and in some cases employee contributions; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Gem Lake has developed a policy regarding the Minnesota Family <br />Medical Leave program for the employee handbook; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, the City of Gem Lake will contribute 50% of premium for the Minnesota Family <br />Medical Leave Act. <br /> <br />NOW, THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, by the City of Gem Lake, Minnesota, City Council <br />adopts a policy for the Minnesota Family Medical Leave and Authorizes the City Clerk to <br />Amend the Employee Handbook with the Language. <br /> <br />The motion for adoption of the foregoing Resolution was duly introduced by Councilmember <br />Lindner and supported by Councilmember Johnson, and upon vote being taken thereon, the <br />resolution passed with a vote of 4 in favor and 0 against. <br /> <br />ATTEST <br /> <br />I, Barbara Suciu, the duly qualified City Clerk of the City of Gem Lake, County of Ramsey, <br />State of Minnesota, do hereby certify that the foregoing Resolution is a true and accurate <br />representation of action taken by the City Council of the City of Gem Lake on the date first <br />written. <br /> <br /> December 16, 2025 <br />Barbara Suciu, City Clerk Date <br /> <br />
