TWENTY-NINTH MEETING - VILLAGE OF GEM LAKE COUNCIL <br />JANUAhY 25th 1962 - HOFFMANS CORNERS HALL <br />1. THE MAYOR CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 8 : 20 PM <br />2. THE CLERK CALLED THE ROLL <br />I -RESENT - HOFFMAN, HANSEN, ARC AND, GRAY, MORGAN AIv'D D . HOFFMAN. <br />Also Bemis and Mrs. Bemis, Howard Dahlgren and Art <br />Birkeland. <br />ABSENT - NONE <br />3. THE CLERK READ THE MINUTES OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING HELD DECEMBER <br />19th 1961 - Moved by Gray and Seconded by Hansen that sane be <br />approved as read. AI.L AYES. <br />PRESENTATIONS FROM THE FLOOR - <br />Art Birkeland presented a petition signed by ten registered and <br />qualified voters, residents of Gem Lake Village, to hold a special <br />election on the issue - whether the sale of intoxicating liquor <br />shall be permitted within th4 Village of Gem Lake. <br />The council took same under consideration but no date was set at <br />this meetir4a for the eletion.(Petition attached hereto) <br />K. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES - <br />a. Lake Area Planning Como - Bemis reported that he had attended <br />the last meeting in January at which the highway dept. men were <br />present but that nothing official took place. <br />b. Community Planning Com. - Bemis reported that Dalhgrer_ was <br />present to submit a report, as follows:- <br />Dahlgren stated that this did not constitute a "meeting" under <br />the contract which provides for amour official meetings. He <br />presented a BASE NIAP, a LAND USE MAP and a Planning Booklet. <br />He had many copies of the booklet and explained that the com. <br />and the council. should read this booklet and hold meetings to <br />decideat what kind of c1mmunity we wanted, and make preliminary <br />decisions and have a closed meeting with Dahlgren before any <br />public meeting. Such closed meeting was tent&tr&vely set for April. <br />6. UNFINISHED BUSINESS - <br />a. Moved by Hansen and seconded by Arcand that Donald. O.Opstad <br />be and hereb7 is appointed Civil Defense Director for the Village <br />of rem Lake. ALL AYES. <br />7. NEW BUS[ NESS - <br />a. MOVED RY ARCAND Al"-D SECONDED by Hansen that the following health <br />officers be releclted for the ,year 1962 - <br />Dt. Robt. W. Reif, F"enry L.
