FIFTY-THIRD MEETING - VILLA.GE OF GEM LME COUNCIL <br />JANUARY 21st 1964 - HOFFMANS CORKERS HALL <br />1. THE MAYOR CALLED THE MEETING TO ORDER AT 8:15 PM <br />2. THE CLERK CALLED THE ROLL - <br />PRESENT - H. Hoffman, Arcand, Hansen, Gray, Morgan and Dave Hoffman. <br />ABSENT - none - <br />Also present, Dirt Birkeland, Anne Larson, Gil Foster and <br />friend and Richard Copeland. <br />3. THE C,IERK RFAD THE I4IINUTES• OF THE PREVIOUS MEETING HELD DECEI-BER <br />X= 17th, 1963 - Moved by Gray and seconded by Hansen that the <br />same be approved as read. All ayes. <br />4. PRESENTATIONS FROM THE FLOOR - <br />a. Mr. Gil Foster pointed out that he had started his golf course <br />some years prior to the passage and publ.icati_on of Village <br />Zoning Ordinance # 5, on March 14th 1963, and asked for a variance <br />to continue with his commercial golf course in ZONE R.. The <br />council is familiar with Mr. Fosters situation but for the recgrd <br />asked him to submit his reolgest in writing to Mr. Bemis, chairman <br />of the planning committee, so that Bemis can make an official <br />recommendation to the council. Mr. Foster was asked to include in <br />his request as much of his future plans as he can at this time. <br />b. The clerk read to the council a petition received December 16th <br />1963 from Lorraine Silver and C.J. Silver to vacate certain <br />portions of Nellie Street, Stanfell Street and an alley. Copy of <br />the petition is attached to these minutes. Notice had been publ- <br />ished in the ?r4hite Bear Press on Jan 9th 1964 that a hearing would <br />be held on this matter at this meeting. As there were no objections <br />it was mover•1 by Hansen and seconded by l?rca nd that the petition <br />be approved. All ayes. Mr. Cppeland will prepare the necessary <br />papers and notify the County Auditorts office. <br />c. Herb Tousley of Tousley Ford had submitted to Mr. Bemis, Chairman <br />of the planning committee a request for a variance for a large <br />signx, in excess of that permitted by Zoning Ordinance #5 . In a <br />letter dated January 15th 1964, which is also attached to these <br />minutes, Mr. Bemis recommends to the council that an exception <br />be granted to Herb 'sous] ey for a single sign to be 40 feet by 5 ft <br />with a maximum height of 34 feed, and the council agreed that this <br />siren would be in keeping within the size of the building. Arcand <br />moved and Gray seconded that this exception or variance be granted. <br />All ayes. <br />5. REPORTS OF COMMITTEES - none. <br />6. UNFINISHED BUSINESS - <br />a. The clerk submitted the bill of Bonestroo,Rosene & hssoc. in the <br />amount of $2.15.00 coverinc detailed report on the matter of conn- <br />ectin , with the sewage system of the City of white Bear Lake. <br />At the council meeting ( a special. meeting) held September 25th <br />1963, Henry L. Hoffman and Allen R. Hansen agreed to underwrite <br />the cost of such a survey and are requested at this time to <br />reimburse the village for this amount of $315.00 at the rate o" <br />�057.50 each. <br />
