JPA VLAWMO Amendment for Insurance Chan e VLAWMO would like. amend their 2017 JPA with their partner cities. to allow for the organization to apply for insurance coverage with the League::of Minnesota Cities. By making this .change. VLAWMO wilt save about 20%and have better coverage. A motion was made by Councilmember Artig=Swomley, seconded by Councilmember Cacioppo to approve the. amendment. to the JPA. Motion passed; JPA amendment approved. 2.00 hour raise for Cit Su ort.Staff The City Support Staff s job.duties have increased with staff now in the mle.of the Acting City Clerk. In additio0, a complaint was received that Mr. Marier has been driving a golf cart/ATV on city streets: Noted: Mr. Mader states he. does -not own -an ATV, but does have a golf cart he uses for transportation to his rental property to. do maintenance at the home. City Attorney Kelly suggested -that the council recommend NpVing the building inspector check the property records and assimilate a*report on the property to present to the Cburrail. Golf -cart discussion took place about motorized golf carts; state Statutes, and whether theyallowed on city streets,. they are not. A vendor, Greenline Services submitted a bid f& &as.s cutting for $$$-.06-.per week; currently this is -billed at. $134.62 per week, with a charge for fertilizer and -trimming. $now plowing from the township averages to $120.00 per week, depending on equ.i.pment, peisonnel, salt etc, Greenline Services would charge a rate depending on the depth of -the snow. (JPA) The Vadnais Lake Area Water Management Organization Joint Rowers Agreement is seeking agreerrient from its membership with for a first.am.endment to. the 2017 Joint Powers Agreement. VLAWM0 is: applying for insurance coverage through the League of Minnesota Cities Insurance. Trust (LMCIT). In order todo do that VLAWMO is being required to expand the current language in the JPA regarding insurance. The current.language ❑n page 7 of Che.JPA simply reads: "Subdivision 14. Insurance. VLAWMO may contract for or purchase such insurance as the Board deems.necessary1or its protection!' Please see the attached 'First Amendment to the Joint Powers Agreement to Protect and Manage the Vadnais Lake Watershed.' The underlined language would amend the insurance and liability section of the. J PA. Currently VLAWM0 has Public Errors and. Omissions insurancethrough the Professional Government Underwriters, Inc. The cost of.this has doubled in the lastyear, sparking a: hunt for alternative insurance coverage. The remaining umbrella coverage through United Fire Group covers auto,. general liability, inland marine and workers compensation. Estimates from our insurance broker, pending final numbers, anticipate a savings.of about 20% and better coverage with. LMCIT. The additional language is required by the. LMCIT in order to provide coverage_ Deadline for insurance coverage: Julv31, 2019. VLAWMO attorney, Troy Gilchrist, of Kennedy and Graven Chartered, composed the draft. amendment. The VLAWMO Board of Directors requests each of its member communities to review this amendment; forwa.rdi.ng any questions you may have to our administrator, Stephanie McNamara; ste hanie.o.mcnamara viawmo.or , 551-204-5073 by May 30th.
