Addendum I to Agreement between Ramsey County Public Works and Grass Lake Watershed
Management Organization
Ramsey County Environmental Resources will conduct a macrophyte survey(s) on Lake
Wabasso. The point intercept method incorporating a Global Positioning System (GPS) will be
used to assess the aquatic macrophyte community on Wabasso Lake on June 13I' 2011. A
second survey may also be conducted on or about August 1 st`d 2011 if there will not be a conflict
with aquatic vegetation control applications. The GLWMO will determine whether to proceed
with the August 1", 2011 survey. Samples will be taken at evenly spaced (70 m) geo- referenced
points within the littoral area of the lake. Data on depth, plant species, and abundance rank will
be recorded.
A double -tined metal rake attached to a rope will be used to collect specimens. At each point the
device will be thrown out approximately 1 meter and then dragged across the substrate for
approximately 1 meter. Species will be identified and given a ranking based on cover of rake
tines. Plant species that were floating in the water at the collection points will also be counted.
The table below includes the ranking system.
Percent Cover of Tines
Abundance Ranking
81 -100
5
61 -80
4
41 -60
3
21 -40
2
1 -20
1
This data will be used to create a technical report(s) which discusses the findings of the survey
any changes seen in the lake's macrophyte community since the previous surveys. The June,
2011 survey report will be completed and submitted to GLWMO no later than July 15th, 2011. If
the August, 2011 Lake Wabasso survey is completed, a report will be submitted to GLWMO by
September 1, 2011. The cost for each survey /report performed will be $982.85 for Wabasso
Lake.
2011 Aquatic Plant Survey contract 4 of 4
