Regular City Council Meeting <br /> Monday,July 18, 2011 <br /> Page 6 <br /> Mr. Choi advised that this was his operational preference, to work closely with <br /> various jurisdictions on common goals. <br /> Councilmember Johnson personally thanked Mr. Choi for his attendance; and ex- <br /> pressed his hope that they could get together in the near future for further discus- <br /> sion in a more informal setting. Councilmember Johnson asked Mr. <br /> Choi if he had any feeling on an additional sales tax for the Viking Stadium one <br /> way or the other. <br /> Mr. Choi advised that, while being an elected County Attorney, he also had a duty <br /> to his client, the Ramsey County Board, to represent their policy decision and po- <br /> sition, whatever that turned out to be; and noted that his personal opinion was ir- <br /> relevant. <br /> Mayor Roe reiterated Councilmember Willmus' comments on the attendance of a <br /> County Attorney at a municipal meeting; and thanked Mr. Choi for his attendance <br /> and comments. <br /> b. John Doan,Metropolitan Council Representative <br /> Mayor Roe recognized and welcomed Mr. John Doan, newly-appointed repre- <br /> sentative to the Metropolitan Council for District 10 that included the City of <br /> Roseville, and basically those cities along both sides of the I-35 W Corridor. <br /> Materials related to the purpose of the Metropolitan Council, and Mr. Doan's re- <br /> presentation, were provided as a bench handout by Sector Representative Lisa Ba- <br /> rajas, also in attendance. <br /> Mr. Doan reviewed the responsibilities of the Metropolitan Council, from buses to <br /> flushes; and noted that he served on the Council's Transportation and Environ- <br /> ment Committees. <br /> Mayor Roe expressed his appreciation for Mr. Doan's service on the Transporta- <br /> tion Committee; noting that this was a major interest of the City of Roseville to <br /> refocus the Metropolitan Council back on the NE Diagonal and regional transpor- <br /> tation issues. Mayor Roe noted concerns of residents in ongoing discussions and <br /> potential cuts to the Roseville Circulator service. <br /> Mayor Roe thanked Mr. Doan for his attendance and comments. <br /> c. Joint Meeting with the Human Rights Commission (HRC) <br /> HRC Vice Chair Gary Grefenberg advised that Chair David Singleton was ill and <br /> sent his apologies for being unable to attend. Vice Chair Grefenberg introduced <br /> those Commissioners in attendance at tonight's meeting: Kaying Thao; Jill Bris- <br /> bois, and Youth Representative Anthony Barrett.
