<br />EXTRACT OF MINUTES OF MEETING OF THE <br /> <br />CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF ROSEVILLE <br /> <br />* * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * <br /> <br />Pursuant to due call and notice thereof, a regular meeting of the <br />City Council of the City of Roseville, County of Ramsey, Minnesota, was <br />duly held in the City Hall at 2660 Civic Center Drive, Roseville, <br />Minnesota, on Monday, the 22nd day of October, 1984 at 7:30 o'clock p.m. <br />The following members were present: Mayor Demos, and Councilmembers <br />Curley, Kehr and Franke. <br /> <br />and the following were absent: Councilmember Johnson. <br /> <br />Member Curley introduced the following resolution and <br />moved its adoption: <br /> <br />RESOLUTION NO. 7662 <br /> <br />RESOLUTION ON THE PUBLIC EMPLOYEES RETIREMENT SYSTEM <br /> <br />BE IT RESOLVED by the City Council of the City of Roseville, as follows: <br />WHEREAS, most of the employees of the City of Roseville belong to the <br />Public Employees Retirement Association, and <br />MIEREAS, a number of Public Employees Retirement Association Board <br />members have raised significant questions relating to PERA Board election <br />procedures, to the appointment process used to hire an interim Executive <br />Director of the Public Employees Retirement Association, as well as other <br />administrative matters, and <br />WHEREAS, the present method for electing PERA board members results <br />in electing only those with such financial backing as to permit expensive <br />mailed information campaigns, permitting a single organization or <br />individual to determine board membership, and <br />WHEREAS, greater diversity on the board would assure that decisions <br />of that body are better considered; <br />NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the City Council of Roseville, <br />Minnesota, requests the following actions: <br />1. That the legislature conduct an investigation into PERA Board <br />election practices and also into the administration of PERA. <br />
