454
455
456
457 Lake Association Liaison Updates
458 Member Miller advised that he had made contact with representatives of the Lake Owasso Homeowners
459 Association.
460
461 Member Von De Linde advised that she had made contact with a representative of the Lake Wabasso
462 Association, and provided workshop information; but noted they were not interested in any additional
463 events during the summer months, but would be interested in activities during other months of the year.
464
465 Member Westerberg advised that he continued to attempt contact with a representative of the Snail Lake
466 Improvement District; however, to -date he had received no response to his calls.
467
468 2012 Budget Proposals to Roseville and Shoreview City Councils
469 Chair Eckman advised that Member Miller made presentations to both the Shoreview and Roseville City
470 Councils. Chair Eckman also noted that she attended the Roseville meeting, Member Von De Linde noted
471 she attended the Shoreview meeting, and Mr. Petersen noted that he attended both meetings.
472
473 Member Miller reported that both cities appeared amenable to a utility fee increase recommendation, if
474 that was what the GLWMO Board came forward with; with Shoreview pushing that option; and Roseville
475 seeing the necessity for that option to avoid losing local control of the WMO.
476
477 MPCA TMDL Study Update
478 Mr. Petersen provided a written update on his discussion with Ms. Brooke Asleson of the MPCA, dated
479 June 17, 2011, and included with meeting packet materials.
480
481 VLAWMO / GLWMO Workshops Update
482 Mr. Petersen expressed his disappointment in the lack of attendees from the GLWMO at the recent rain
483 garden workshop held in partnership with the VLAWMO, especially with past successful turnouts from
484 VLAWMO residents.
485
486 Member Von De Linde suggested that Mr. Petersen keep track of workshop presenters for future
487 reference.
488
489 At the request of Chair Eckman, Mr. Petersen advised that attendees are recruited through various
490 methods from communities in the VLAWMO; and that the rain garden presenter was well respected and
491 sought after in the six (6) VLAWMO communities, as she addressed landscape aspects versus water
492 quality engineer perspectives for rain gardens.
493
494 Document GLWMO CIF's beginning in 2008
495 Chair Eckman noted the interest expressed by Lake Owasso Association residents in GLWMO
496 accomplishments since the BARR Engineering study and its cost. Chair Eckman asked that those
497 accomplishments be documented, such as how many feet of shoreline had been buffered by BMP cost -
498 share projects since the study, as well as pending projects on each lake; GLWMO participation in various
499 City projects, such as the Aladdin project; permeable concrete project done recently by the City of
500 Shoreview; periodic dredging of storm ponds; and the estimated calculations available from Ryan of the
501 pounds of phosphorus removed to -date.
502
503 Action Step
10
