Member Felice concurred, noting that it appeared to be a government fee, but was <br />actually a company or hauler- initiated, similar to that of a cost of doing business <br />fee. Member Felice noted concerns with deceptive language tactics creating <br />opaque surcharges and /or arbitrary fees; causing cities to consider what sanctions <br />the City could realistically incur, when they needed garbage haulers available. <br />Member Vanderwall opined that this issue had come up during previous <br />discussions from a hauler's perspective. Member Vanderwall further opined that, <br />in reviewing the price list, it provided for experience of dollars, and disproved the <br />perception that everything done by government was at a higher cost. <br />Member Felice noted that organized collection ovided for pick up of every <br />can, and it became less likely that someone's e address would be missed; <br />along with assurances that the contract co where the garbage would <br />end up, and not allow it to be disposed ere the could be held liable if <br />not properly taken care of, both vali erns. <br />Member Vanderwall concurred, note at it was of only a 'lity issue, but <br />also a philosophical issue for the end p <br />Member Felice opined that it was easier to remember to put it out every week; <br />and further opined that there was only one recycling truck for an entire <br />neighborhood versus multiple garbage haulers. <br />Page 15 of 18 <br />
